Tenía muchos años sin dibujar y muchísimos más sin dibujar sobre tela. Le dije a mi esposo que menos mal no soy cirujana, porque con ese pulso, me dicen que corte la apéndice y corto el intestino 😂 (oh no, la politzia).
Hace unas semanas me llegó un trabajo, mi prima me pidió pintar una falda con dibujos alusivos y típicos de la ciudad portuaria de Manta, el puerto de la provincia de Manabí. Le dije que tenía muchos años sin pintar sobre tela, sin embargo se arriesgó y puse manos a la obra.

Lo primero que hice fue abrir la falda sobre una mesa larga, dividida por la mitad, y como en mi caso no calqueo, ni tengo debajo una guía si no que pinto a mano alzada, debía estar segura o al menos intentar que quedara derecho el dibujo. Busqué imágenes en Internet de la bandera y el escudo de Manta, también la famosa silla, que es un indio al revés, un barco y unos atunes, muy característicos de la zona portuaria y luego de eso, compré el material y puse manos a la obra.

>The first thing I did was to open the skirt on a long table, divided in half, and as in my case I do not trace, nor do I have a guide underneath but I paint freehand, I had to be sure or at least try to make the drawing straight. I looked for images on the Internet of the flag and the coat of arms of Manta, also the famous chair, which is an Indian upside down, a boat and some tuna, very characteristic of the port area and after that, I bought the material and got down to work.

Comencé con las letras de Manta, así de coloridas la tiene la alcaldía. Luego con la silla, que no quedó tan igual y cambié algunos detalle, pero mantiene la idea que es lo importante 😅. Todo esto lo hice la primera noche. ¿Por qué de noche? Porque a esa hora los niños duermen y puedo trabajar más tranquila.
Solo tenía 2 días y medio para pintar esta falda y entregarla, ya que también tenia otros trabajos. Así que para acelerar el paso, durante la mañana siguiente pinté el barco y la bandera, mientras 2 de los niños estaban en la escuela y Amelie veía videos. Debo decir que el barco no me dió tanto trabajo, solo unas partes por el pulso jajaaj, ya saben, me falla. Pero con la bandera quise hacerla como que volaba con el viento y dañé el trabajo, así que luego tuve que repararlo y tratar de que se viera decente 🤷😅, es pintura sobre tela, así que ¡ups! No se borra Eli.

Then with the chair, which didn't look quite the same and I changed some details, but I kept the idea, which is the important thing 😅. I did all this the first night, why at night? Because at that time the kids sleep and I can work more calmly.

So to speed up the pace, the next morning I painted the boat and the flag, while 2 of the kids were at school and Amelie was watching videos. But with the flag I wanted to make it like it was flying in the wind and I damaged the work, so then I had to repair it and try to make it look decent 🤷😅, it's paint on canvas, so oops! Cuando ya estaba listo el trabajo y mi cuerpo adolorido pues la posición para pintar a mano alzada es bastante agotadora, a mi clienta (mi prima), le encantó tanto el trabajo que me pidió dibujar un delfín por la parte de atrás de la falda 😱😰. Podía hacerlo, pero mi tiempo era limitado y eso implicaba más trabajo para lo económico que cobré por ser familia: $15 la mano de obra. Así que le tuve que decir que no podía, pero le hice una línea de atunes en la parte de abajo.

Espero que les haya gustado este trabajo, aun con mi pulso medio chueco jajaja. La clienta estaba feliz y su baile e interpretación quedaron también muy hermosos.
