Driving past the fields this morning I noticed some sunflowers in the corner. I've lived in the village a long time and never seen any sunflowers here before. Later on, I decided to have a walk down there for a better look.
The sunflowers had only been planted around the perimeter of the field. I know some farmers sell their flowers but no sales have been advertised.

There were also a few purple flowers called phacelia amongst them. These flowers are planted by the farmers as they are natural fertilisers instead of using chemicals. I presume these sunflowers have also been planted to improve the soil.
The yellow flowers looked really lovely against the blue sky.
There's been an abundance of fruit this year as we've had a lovely summer. The crab apples had fallen from the tree on to the footpath. They were quite slippy underfoot as I nearly went arse over tit a few times. I can just see the local news headlines, 'woman killed by crab apple'. It wasn't a good way to go.
The bushes were covered in sloe berries that can be used to flavour gin.
I've never seen so many berries on the hawthorn bushes as I have this year.
As I got back to the car, I spotted a young squirrel. I've never seen one as young as this. S/he was playing peek-a-boo with me behind the gate post. There's a bird feeding station at the end of the walk so s/he was eating the bird nuts. It was a good end to my walk.
Thank you to @untilwelearn and the team for running the contest.
