It was a lovely sunny morning as I took a walk in the 70 acre wood, with the sun filtering through the trees.
There was a little robin high up in the trees singing its little heart out. I placed some bird seed on the stone wall but I couldn't entice the robin down. The other birds weren’t interested either.
The logging under the forest management programme seems to have stopped at the moment and the machinery has all gone. We were taught at school that if you count the growth rings on a cut tree, it will tell you how old the tree was. It's always sad when trees get felled, but sometimes it's necessary.
A few fungi have come through, particularly the fly agarics. Some were quite big, bigger than I've seen before.
I do prefer the smaller ones, though. In the past couple of days, they had risen from the ground, and now many were on their way out.
The colour of the leaves is changing. I think sunny days like this are the best times to get good, colourful photographs. I sometimes bump into the more serious photographers in autumn, whether it's sunny or misty, all seeking that perfect shot.
