About fifteen minutes into my walk it started to rain. No point in going back as I was wet through so I might as well carry on. I walked along the country lanes of my village.

I decided not to go through the fields as I could see the cows had congregated on the footpath. I like cows but a little scared of walking through a whole herd of them. I decided to go further up the road and into the bottom of the wood.

Everyone is building bonfires for November 5th, Bonfire Night, which is a yearly event that celebrates the failure of Guy Fawkes, a Catholic man, to blow up the Houses of Parliament and assassinate Protestant King James I in 1605. It's become a contentious issue in the village for a few years now. The fireworks that are set off are becoming bigger and louder which scares the animals in the village. In my childhood, it was held on the actual day only but nowadays it's all bloody week!

This is the worst part of the walk as it's all uphill to the top of the wood.

I found some sweet chestnuts which are edible. They were too small though so I didnt take any home. I've already bought some big ones from the fruit and veg man, anyway.

After walking through the wood I passed the lake on my way home. The weather turned alright in the end.
