We've actually had some rain at last. The ground, lakes and reservoirs have certainly needed it. I took a walk through one of my favourite forests where there are usually some fly agarics.
Unfortunately, again, I didn't see any. I think I'm just being impatient. However, quite a few different kinds of fungi had appeared.
The moss was lovely and green but there are parts of the landscape that are very brown with the lack of rain.
The birch polypore (I think) was growing on the rotting birch tree. According to the Wild Food UK website it can be used as an antiseptic to clean wounds. I always believe nature has an antidote for everything.
After I got home, I nipped to a footpath I know that's not used much. It's a short cut between houses and there's usually some good fungi around that area. Now that we are in autumn, I'm really looking forward to finding more fungi. In fact, I'm pacing the floor with anticipation! Show me the fungi!!
