As I am staying at a friend's house for a few days, I thought for my #wednesdaywalk initiated by @tattoodjay, I would walk up to the village church and around the park to check it out. Firstly, I passed the thatched pub which was unfortunately closed. It was sunny but dark clouds were looming overhead.
I spotted this car sticker along the way. Never a truer word said!
It was only a short walk to the St James Church along the road.
Once in the graveyard, I decided to follow the sign for the Peace Garden.
In May, the Peace Garden marked 80 years since Victory in Europe (VE) Day.
After leaving the church, I followed the footpath that would eventually take me into the park.
I could see the church spire that I'd just visited in the distance.
There is a local ambling group that meets up for very short walks every month starting in the park. It's accessible for all as it's all on the level. It's a way of getting people together, especially if you are isolated.
As I set off back, I noticed some youngsters having a game of cricket in the distance. I'm sure with the dark clouds overhead, rain will probably stop play at some point.
