Good day everyone, welcome to my blog.
This is a question I ask myself each time I think about our system as a country. Nigeria gained her independence in 1960 and became a republic in 1963. After almost seven decades, we are still crawling.
If the patrons of independence like Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Chief Nnamdi Azikiwe and Alhaji Abubakar Tarawa Balewa were to be alive till date, do you think they would be happy with the turn out of events in our nation today? I am sure they are presently turning in their graves.
At sixty five, we still battle with economic struggles, insecurity, unstable government policy, unemployment, corruption, bad governance, terrorist invasion and so on yet, we celebrate our independent anniversary every year.
Our learning institutions produce tons of graduates every year with limited employment opportunities. Our slogan has become get rich or die trying or get rich or get out (Japa) for those who have the opportunity.
Our hospitals are almost empty from lack of physicians because the majority of them has all Japa in search of a greener pastures they were never and may never be offered in their home country.
Our doctors are nurses who prefer to work as career or care assistance abroad. A number of them would give it their all to make sure they find a way to attain the passport of their destination country because they have no intention of returning home.
Everyone with the green passport is usually double checked at almost all the points of entry of all western countries because we are known for drug trafficking. A business a lot of people get into due to unemployment and poverty
A lot of our under aged are in the Arab countries working as house help why? Because we are independent but still held captive to ourselves
We have become a nation being ruled by bullies and miscreants who believe only in their pockets and that of their associates. I wish I was in the cabinet if advisers Yakubu Gowon had in 1957, before the commencement of the civil war which lasted for thirty months, I would have advised that we go out separately.

Unfortunately, that would be treason of the highest order. A graduate is reduced to minal jobs like pushing wheelbarrows, imagine spending years in school only to end up not gainfully employed. No wonder our youths are making good use of the options life has thrown at them.
Then , one will ask, doesn't this nation have a taxation system? Oh we have, in fact, we end up paying the direct and indirect tax. Even Secondary School Students will now be paying tax soon. Nothing is being subsidized for us as a citizen.
The subsidized food Lagos State promised only lasted for a while, we only hear of allocations and big big Digits of money on the news, we only hear of proposals without seeing the actual projects. We are tired of empty promises every four, four years. Nigeria Youth, we need to stand up and protect our own, the future is now.
