Hello people, welcome to my blog.

Namaste everyone, welcome to my blog today. I am happy to be one of the participants in this week's contests. I'll be talking about a tradition that has come to stay in my family since I got married.

Before I proceed I would like to let you know that in my family we are Muslims, We practise Islam. Around the world Islam calendar is quite different from the very common lunar calendar we know. We have months namely Muharram, Safar, Rabi'al-awwal,Rabi'ath-thani, Jumadaal-awwal,Jumadaath-than,Rajab,Sha'ban, Ramadan and others.

The month of Ramadan which happens to be the seventh month of the Muslim calendar is a month that all Muslims are expected to fast for thirty or twenty nine days depending on how the moon is sighted. During the last ten days of this month, Muslims that are of working and earning class are expected to give to the poor, struggling and widowed Muslims.

The tradition was Started by the progenitor of Islam prophet Muhammad (SAW). He started this tradition according to the schooler with the intentions of making sure that all Muslims who has fasted for thirty days have enough food to eat before going to the prayer ground to observe a two Rajat prayers

The foods that Muslims are to share or give has a measurement. The name of the measurements used is called mudu or deica. We are expected to pack five mudu of any grain we have per head according to the number of members of our family. A family of five is expected to pack five modu of any grain of choice in five different packs

In case we do not know who and who to give, the tradition allows us to convert the grains into money and pay it into any sakat and sadaka foundation accounts that comes handy or give the grains to an Alpha(cleric man) in our community with the hope that he will share it to those who are best in need of it.

I look forward to this tradition every year's Ramadan because it gives me an opportunity to reach out to people who I may not be able to give things to on a normal day. I like to give out this foods or grains a day before the end of Ramadan so it will be able to serve the purpose it is expected to serve then followed with cooked food early morning of the festival day

Thank you for taking your time to read through, Yours truly @elizy, a teacher, mother and passionate writer

Enjoy today while it last, tomorrow is not promised.
