Good day everyone, welcome to my blog.
I must express gratitude to @gakenkp for giving us interesting prompts every weekend. In response to this week's weekend engagement prompt, I will be responding to the first topic. Travel problems, my worst bus experience.
In the year 2024, Nigerian presidential elections were conducted and the whole nation was in fear for days. The masses were afraid because the election was a real power tussle between three candidates from the northern, Eastern and Western parts of the country respectively.
Before the election, a cashless policy was introduced and a lot of Nigerians had to live from hand to mouth not because we were broke but because not all sales centers accept transfers or offer cashless sales at that time.
It was during this chaotic time that I had to travel to Abuja. The federal capital Territory of our dear nation. Having to travel at that time, I was faced with the problem of how to get cash to use in footing my transportation bills. All well and good, I met a woman who sells perishable food items in my area and she gathered some money for me.
At that point, I felt at ease that I could then travel in peace. So I thought, I never knew that life had other plans for me. The journey from my house to the park was very smooth. In fact, I selected a seat of my choice. The journey started at nine in the night and I was planning to enjoy it all through because that was supposed to be my first night travel experience.
To my surprise, the bus broke down after about an hour into the journey and we had to pass the night in the bus after it was tolled and parked at a nearby fuel station. I couldn't sleep well all through the night out of fear of insecurity, a lot of thoughts ran through my mind but the most important one of them was that why would someone choose to embark on such a long journey without checking to make sure that his vehicle is in good condition.
Yours truly slept on the highway for two days before the driver decided to hand us over to another bus which was going our route. Finally, I arrived at my destination on the third day, did all I had to do and joined another bus back to my base immediately.
Thank you for taking your time to read through, Yours truly @elizy, a teacher, mother and passionate writer
Enjoy today while it last, tomorrow is not promised.
