Good day everyone, welcome to my blog.

Life indeed present us with different choices to chose from time to time, the choices we make either make or mare us. So for this reason we must be extra careful when making different life choices even though we may not know what the outcome of our choice will look like. But always, we hope for the best.

Olaniyan was a fairly educated daughter of a cocoa farmer. Ola liked education and wish to accuquire it but her fate was to be determined by her father who does not believe in educating a girl child. Like every other children in the neighborhood, Ola was enrolled in primary school at age twelve when her hands could cross over her head to touch her other ear.

She was in school from standard one till standard six. Every weekend, Ola would travel from the city where her school was located to her father's farm to help on the farm and collect food supply for the week and she would travel down and work on the farm all through the holidays.

Before long, she finished her primary education and was expecting her father to enroll her in secondary school so she will be able to attend a nursing school after the completion of her secondary education. During the long vacation, Ola went to meet her father one day very early in the morning, when she got to the entrance of his room she knocked at the door then wait, the father from inside asked who was there and Ola said she was the one then her father said she could come in.

When Ola got into her father's room, she went straight to her knees like a well trained child to greet the old man saying good morning baami, hope you had a good night rest? Her father responded good morning Ola, my night was great, how was yours too, this is too early, hope all is well?. Ola said all is well Baba, I just want to have a word with you consigning school resumption.

Baba, school will be resuming by two weeks time and i got the information that there are only limited slots available at the school to avoid overcrowding, I want to beg you to please find time within the next week to follow me to the city so we can conclude my registration. In response, Baba said What school are you talking about Ola! I thought you just finished your primary education? So what are you talking about? I don't get you.

Ola took her time and patient to respond to her father's questions saying yes Baba, I just finished standard six, primary education but i wish to attend a secondary school where I will attend the form classes from form one to five. Baba in response said so you want to go back to school to spend another five years? Ok o it's your life but as it is now, this year's farming season is not that productive so I do not have any money to spend on any western education at this moment.

The only thing I think I can do is to enroll you next year if you can wait. Ola said it ok baami I will wait till next year. While waiting, I will work for you on the farm so the number of labourer you will need on the farm will be reduced by one. Ola worked tirelessly on the farm day and night for a whole planting season. She made sure not to make any demands of her father when labourer were being paid and when her siblings were requesting for festive gifts simply because she knew what she wanted.

Before long, another accademic year began and Ola went to meet her father again to remind him of his promise and tell him that the time is here, to her suprise, Baba said Ola, this is Africa, in Africa a woman is expected to learn how to raise a family and not go to school so I do not have any penny to spend in your education again. My advice for you now is to go and bring a suitor so I can see my grandchildren.

With that Ola packed her bag and left for the city. Though she was unable to further her education immediately she got back to the city, she was able to work at the national library as a janitor where she usually read books about science and history whenever she was free. Few years after working with the library, she took a loan and went back to school.

Her initial aim was to become a nurse but she changed the choice she had when the opportunity presented it self. She studied secretariat studies and later raised to the position of a secetary at the library. Her father apologized and blamed ignorance for his actions, Ola forgave and took good care of him in his old age.
