A 3 day itinerary in Bordeaux

Firstly, I want to explain how we eneded up in Bordeaux. Basically me and my friend decided to plan something cheap in June and we found an amazing surprise trip for 130€, which included the plane tickets and two nights at a hotel. The company we booked it through told us where we were going to 2 days before. (I might write another post about how booking a surprise trip works if you are interested)

Day 1 -Get to your hotel and leave your stuff

  • as soon as you can, get a free tour. This was extremely helpful for us, as it helped us locate all of the important sites, gave us historic context and gave us some tips regarding transport, cheap places to eat out and other important things. For example, our guide told us that the neighbourhood where our hotel was turned off all lights at 1am.

  • get some lunch. We went to Fortiche, a sandwich place which had the best sandwich i had ever tried and was more or less cheap.

  • for the rest of the day we just walked around the city site seeing.

Day 2

  • we had breakfast in Cérès, wich a fairly cheap bakery with delicious pastrys. Here we tried the famous chocolatines

  • visit the Marche des Capucins. This is a local market. Not only is it beautiful, but you can also sit down to have some oysters and wine.

  • visit the Basilique Saint-Michele

  • visit Cathedrale Saint-André de Bordeaux

  • from there walk to Jardin Public, if you haven’t eaten yet nch yet this is a good spot to have a picnic and relax for a while.

  • in the afternoon we looked for a cute terrace to have a cocktail

Day 3

  • The last day we were here was a Saturday, which meant they set a vintage market in front of the Cathedral Saint-Andre de Bordeaux, so we spent some time there and bought some things.

  • after that we got tickets for the bell tower of the cathedral, this was free for everyone below the age of 25. The views were absolutely incredible

  • Lastly we went to the opera. What i really liked about it is that in one the main rooms they had some cushions to lat down in the floor and observe the beautiful ceiling.

And thats it!!!

However there’s many thing i didn’t mention, like the Grosse Cloche, the water mirror and the famouse bridge. These are things we kept saw the 3 days as Bordeaux is not that big
