Hey all this is my 1st Wednesday walk post after joining today. And yes, i did think the walk had to take place on Wednesday- but i know better now.
So this is Goolwa beach in South Australia.
Its home to many pipis or cockles, waves and big sharks. But today it was the pipis/cockles i was after. I convinced my 2 kids and my parents to come with me to increase the limit we can take.
To collect the cockles you need to go out into the water somewhere between knee and waist deep. Then bury your feet down into the sand to expose the cockles. Then you need to pick them up.
Funniest thing I have seen in ages was my mum - 75 years of age, bending over in knee deep water to get a cockle but she didnt know a wave was coming! It knocked her over and she did 4 rolls in the wash. Once I realised she was ok - I laughed so hard.🤣
After getting hundreds of cockles we enjoyed a walk along Goolwa Beach before making our way to the best bakery I know.
The Port Elliot Bakery is about a 90 minute drive from my home, yet it is sooooo good I visit about 8 times a year. There is usually a line up to get in and it varies from 20-150 people!
They have pie of the month and donut of the month which i like to try as often as I can. In March they are offering an Easter themed Ferraro Rochee donut topped with an Easter egg & a mac n cheese pie with bacon.
One of my favourite past times and hopefully future #Wednesdaywalk posts, is to eat my bakery goods at the nearby Horseshoe Bay. I got lots of these photos with different fancy donuts.
The whole way home we changed lyrics to songs to be about grandma getting rolled in the surf.
