Today I ran the Adidas Split 16k in Mexico City. It was a really hard race and I wasn't feeling great.
Hoy corri la carrera de Adidas Split 16 k en la ciudad de México. Fue una carrera dura y no tuve las mejores sensaciones.
The goal was to be near the 5:00 min/km pace and I almost achieved it. I ended with a 5:11 pace and finished the race in 1:23.40
El objetivo era estar cerca de in ritmo de 5:00 min/km, y casi se logra. Terminé con un ritmo de 5:11 y terminé la carrera en 1:23:40.
It was a new route and it was very challenging. It has a lot of bridges and a specially big tunnel with very poor ventilation. So it was a specially hard obstacle.
Fue una ruta conpletamente nueva y muy demandante. Tenia muchos puentes y desniveles y en especial fue complicado un tunel largo y con mucho desnivel que tenia poca ventilación. Ese fue un gran obstáculo.
I wasn't felling great. I had some kind of stomach issue. Fortunately I didn't have to go to the bathroom. I felt like I had a knot in the stomach. But still maintained a good pace. At the beginning I was in the target pace, but as the race developed I had to stop a couple of times to drink Gatorade, stretch a little and mainly to catch my breath.
No me sentí muy bien dentro de la carrera. Desde la mañana tuve un dolor como de estómago que bajó mi rendimiento. Afortunadamente no tuve la necesidad de ir al baño. Sentí como un nudo en el estomago. Aún así mantuve mas o menos buen paso. Al principio estaba con el ritmo que buscaba, pero conforme fue pasando la carrera tuve que bajar y para un par de veces para hidratarme bien, estirar un poco y recuperar mi aliento.
It was a great experience but I need to keep training. The next one is a half marathon in about a month. I'll try to keep you posted.
Fue una buena experiencia, pero se que necesito seguir entrenando. La siguiente carrera es un medio maratón en aprox un mes. Los mantengo informados.
