Hola estimados amantes del cine y las series. Les traigo una reseña de esta serie animada estrenada hace algún tiempo, su primera emisión fue en 2005, pero no fue hasta un mes atrás cuando empecé a verla en Netflix con mi hijo de 8 años, cuando buscábamos algo que ver juntos, lo cierto es que ya veníamos viendo que aparecía entre las tendencias de la plataforma y recordé haber visto la adaptación de esta serie en película de acción real; aunque admito que después de ver la serie que dio origen a la película siento que la película no le hizo justicia, en fin, como la serie tiene un aire de anime y decidimos empezar a verla, y definitivamente fue una buena elección.
Hello dear movie and series lovers. I bring you a review of this animated series released some time ago, its first broadcast was in 2005, but it was not until a month ago when I started watching it on Netflix with my 8 year old son, when we were looking for something to watch together, the truth is that we had already been seeing that it appeared among the trends of the platform and I remembered having seen the adaptation of this series in live action film; although I admit that after watching the series that gave rise to the film I feel that the movie did not do it justice, anyway, as the series has an anime feel and we decided to start watching it, and it was definitely a good choice.

## Sinopsis / Synopsis
Esta serie nos lleva de viaje por una tierra de fantasía, la cual los humanos comparten con animales muy particulares y espíritus, y en la que ciertas personas nacen con la capacidad de dominar uno de los cuatro elementos fundamentales, aire, agua, tierra y fuego; a esas personas se les conoce con el nombre de Maestros, aunque también hay personas sin poderes a los que llaman No Maestros. El caso es que precisamente se dividen social y territorialmente de acuerdo a esta habilidad de controlar los elementos, componiendo así cuatro grupos de personas claramente definidos como: la Nación del Fuego, el Reino Tierra, las Tribus Agua y los Nómadas Aire.
This series takes us on a journey through a fantasy land, which humans share with very particular animals and spirits, and in which certain people are born with the ability to dominate one of the four fundamental elements, air, water, earth and fire; these people are known as Masters, although there are also people without powers who are called Non-Masters. The fact is that they are divided socially and territorially according to this ability to control the elements, thus composing four groups of people clearly defined as: the Fire Nation, the Earth Kingdom, the Water Tribes and the Air Nomads.

La serie inicia con dos jóvenes de la tribu agua, una maestra agua llamada Katara y su hermano no maestro de nombre Sokka, encontrando a Aang, y rescatándolo del hielo, descubriendo luego que es el Avatar y uniéndose a él en un viaje alrededor del mundo para buscar maestros que le ayuden a dominar los otros elementos y poder enfrentar al señor del fuego, ponerle fin a la guerra y restaurar el equilibrio.
The series begins with two young women of the water tribe, a waterbender named Katara and her non-master brother Sokka, finding Aang and rescuing him from the ice, then discovering that he is the Avatar and joining him on a journey around the world to find masters who will help them master the other elements in order to confront the Fire Lord, put an end to the war and restore the balance.

En esta serie las temporadas se llaman libros, y consta de tres libros, los dos primeros de 20 capítulos y el tercero de 21. Y a lo largo de cada libro vemos los viajes y el aprendizaje de Aang junto a Katara y Sokka para desarrollar sus habilidades, y además, para huir de un cuarto protagonista, el príncipe Zuko, un hijo del señor del fuego que ha sido expulsado de su nación, y que cree que al atrapar al Avatar puede ser aceptado nuevamente por su padre. Más adelante se une otro miembro al equipo de Aagn, una niña que es una maestra tierra.
In this series the seasons are called books, and consists of three books, the first two of 20 chapters and the third of 21. And throughout each book we see the travels and learning of Aang along with Katara and Sokka to develop their skills, and also to flee from a fourth protagonist, Prince Zuko, a son of the fire lord who has been expelled from his nation, and who believes that by catching the Avatar he can be accepted again by his father. Later another member joins Aagn's team, a girl who is an earthbender.

## Opinión / Opinion
Ciertamente la serie está diseñada para un público infantil, lo cual no me molestó porque estaba buscando una serie que ver con mi hijo, los personajes son muy jóvenes, Aang tiene 12 años, Katara 14, Sokka y Sukko 16, así que se nota un humor dirigido a ese público joven, sin embargo los más adultos notaran enseguida que capitulo a capitulo se van añadiendo temas un poco más complejos, hablamos de naciones que han estado enfrentadas por años, y se notan las heridas en la sociedad. Por otro lado, hay un tema principal, la contraposición entre Zuko y Aang, quienes a lo largo de las temporadas van descubriendo quienes son realmente y que tienen que dejar de lado lo que se espera de ellos para poder asumir su destino real, claro, con mucho humor y de forma bastante ligera para los niños.
Certainly the series is designed for a child audience, which did not bother me because I was looking for a series to watch with my son, the characters are very young, Aang is 12 years old, Katara 14, Sokka and Sukko 16, so you notice a humor aimed at that young audience, however the more adults will notice immediately that chapter by chapter are adding a little more complex issues, we talk about nations that have been at odds for years, and the wounds in society are noted. On the other hand, there is a main theme, the contrast between Zuko and Aang, who throughout the seasons discover who they really are and that they have to leave aside what is expected of them in order to assume their real destiny, of course, with a lot of humor and in a rather light way for children.

Este tipo de historia me gusta porque tiene esa esencia del género fantástico, en la que los personajes emprenden un largo viaje de descubrimiento, recorriendo tierras fantásticas, y abriéndose paso en un mundo en guerra. También me gusta ese aire de cultura oriental en la serie, los poderes de cada maestro, aunque mágicos, tienen que ser desarrollados aprendiendo movimientos similares a un arte marcial.
I like this type of story because it has that essence of the fantasy genre, in which the characters embark on a long journey of discovery, traveling through fantastic lands, and making their way through a world at war. I also like that air of oriental culture in the series, the powers of each master, although magical, have to be developed by learning movements similar to a martial art.

Sin duda la serie transmite un mensaje de crecimiento personal, y además de Aang, uno de los personajes que mejor lo demuestra es Zuko, quien al principio solo busca la aprobación de su padre, y es su tío quien le guía a encontrar su verdadera misión. Por otro lado también me agrada el personaje de Sokka, es el único no maestro en el equipo del Avatar, pero eso no impidió que lo acompañara en cada aventura o lucha, y aunque al principio era un guerrero poco habilidoso, adquirió gran dominio del bumerang y la espada, además de convertirse en un gran estratega en combate; hay que mencionar que es bastante perspicaz y sarcástico, y agrega mucho humor a la serie.
Undoubtedly the series conveys a message of personal growth, and besides Aang, one of the characters who best demonstrates this is Zuko, who at first only seeks the approval of his father, and it is his uncle who guides him to find his true mission. On the other hand I also like the character of Sokka, he is the only non-master in the Avatar's team, but that did not prevent him from accompanying him in every adventure or fight, and although at the beginning he was a not very skilled warrior, he acquired great mastery of the boomerang and the sword, besides becoming a great strategist in combat; it should be mentioned that he is quite insightful and sarcastic, and adds a lot of humor to the series.

El tema de la tolerancia y la paz como medio para acabar con la guerra son claros, Aang tiene una importante responsabilidad como el Avatar, debe acabar con la guerra, eso significa detener al señor del fuego, aun así tiene fuertes principios, y uno de ellos es que respeta la vida, aunque sea la del hombre que ha esparcido muerte en el mundo, y a pesar de que todos esperan que él mate al señor del fuego este no acepta esa solución.
The theme of tolerance and peace as a means to end the war are clear, Aang has an important responsibility as the Avatar, he must end the war, that means stopping the fire lord, even so he has strong principles, and one of them is that he respects life, even if it is the life of the man who has spread death in the world, and even though everyone expects him to kill the fire lord he does not accept that solution.

Definitivamente es una serie animada que recomendaría, repito que es para un público infantil, pero si la quieren ver con sus hijos creo que la disfrutaran, tiene mucha influencia oriental y un estilo de animación japonés, que a pesar de estar adornada con súper poderes y artes marciales, toca muy sutilmente las consecuencias del abuso de poder y de la guerra sobre las personas. Ya acabamos la serie, y quisimos continuar con su secuela que también está disponible en Netflix, se titula La leyenda de Korra, y relata las aventuras de una joven que es la sucesora de Aang como el Avatar, y que también espero contarles que nos pareció.
It is definitely an animated series that I would recommend, I repeat that it is for a child audience, but if you want to see it with your children I think you will enjoy it, it has a lot of oriental influence and a Japanese animation style, which despite being adorned with super powers and martial arts, very subtly touches the consequences of the abuse of power and war on people. We finished the series, and we wanted to continue with its sequel which is also available on Netflix, it is titled The Legend of Korra, and tells the adventures of a young girl who is the successor of Aang as the Avatar, and I also hope to tell you what we thought of it.
