Today while I was working in the laboratory this morning, there was a spark of electricity that happened outside due to an accident that occured as a result of two cars overtaking each other and because of over speed one of the car loss control and hit a light pole that caused the light sparkling that affected so many people things at home, like some people TV burnt, radio, phone chargers, and even light bulbs got burnt. That particular morning I was working when I heard the sound of the sparking of the light and I heard my cable got sparks as well even though the microscope was plugged in the cable but switched off.

Then suddenly I perceived a smell like something got burnt in the laboratory and I quickly off all the cables in the laboratory. Then I realized the light socket that I plugged the microscope was bringing out bad smells and the cable got melted. When I removed the cable that's connected to the microscope I also noticed the microscope burnt as the result of the sparkling of the light. I plugged it back to the light socket and it wasn't bringing light that's when I confirmed yes the microscope was burnt. I told the director everything that happened and he told me to take it for repairing inside town. From my place of work to main town is 400 hundred naira on bike. The journey is not too far, just about 25 minutes or less.

When I took it to the electrician I explained everything that happened to the man too and asked if he can repair it within 30-40 minutes so that I can go back to work as soon as possible he said he will try to look into it and if is not something very difficult he will repair so I could go back to work.

He was repairing one old TV someone brought to him. His shop is full of spoiled and burnt electronics, TV, radio, irons, extension boxs, laptops, fack, and even burnt keyboard and a lot of things were kept inside the man's shop for repairing.

After the man was done repairing the other person TV, he took my microscope and open it to check to see the problem and what's exactly that burnt inside. I was sitting looking and watching at the man as he was working. When he open it and saw the problems, he told me oga Lab the light bulb and the transformer are all burnt. I was sitting watching this electrician open the microscope and was repairing it, I saw how active and focused the man is and was doing his job. He will cut a wire, draw it and look at it well then fixed it.

Then I engaged him on a smooth conversation, I asked daddy have you ever been repairing microscopes like the way you've been repairing other electronics ? He said not really because he doesn't used to get work for repairing microscopes much like those other electronics. He told me this machine microscope needs someone to be very careful and focused while repairing it because is not all electricians that can repair it. He said the problem of the microscope was that the transformer got burnt.

But he assured me he can buy new transformer and repair everything. He said the money for new transformer and his workmanship I will pay (11,500) eleven thousand five hundred naira. We later agreed I will pay (10,500) ten thousand five hundred naira. I called my director on the phone and they spoke with each other and I gave him the money.

I was still sitting and waiting thinking he will finish this work within 30 minutes or in an hour time. But to my greatest surprised it was over 2 hours this man has not finished repairing the microscope. My director in the facility called three times that two patients are in the facility for only laboratory test and am not yet done with what took me to town.

I told him the electrician is still working on the microscope there's no way I will leave it and come back to work , what if those test needs microscope what would I do then. He then suggested that he will just tell the patients to go home and come back the next day and I accepted. The electrician was still doing his job and I asked daddy is there anything that's giving you tough time ? because it's seems is taking longer time than I expected.

The electrician said even him he never thought it will take much time like this but he will soon finished it.
Later on after some minutes he said he was done and I was so excited that finally the microscope has been fixed. He said he needs to test him and confirmed everything is fine inside it and the bulb brings light through the transformer.

The moment he plugged the microscope via wire sucket we both heard another spark and and a little sparkling came out from the bottom of the microscope. He said something burnt inside again, I was angry because already time has been far spent and I want to go to work to complete the work I have left.

The electrician still opened the microscope again and noticed there was a two wires that was touching each other inside that got burnt. He removed them and replaced and close it back. This particular one took about just 10 minutes and he told me he has fixed it. I asked him to test it again to confirmed everything is fine. He plugged in and there was no spark, nothing burnt. I switched it ON and the light came out and everything was fine.

I appreciate him for his job well-done even though he took almost all the time today I couldn't be able to work anymore and he laughed and said oga Lab this kind of your work doesn't need rush if not you will make mistake because is a work that needs someone to stay focus and do it slowly and gently while working in this kind of machine.

I called a bike man and went back to work. Already it was late, almost my closing time from work after 6pm. I took the microscope to the laboratory and my director came in when he saw me entering the laboratory and I plugged the microscope in the socket, the light came out and everything was fine. I am so happy that the microscope that got burnt or spoiled earlier had been repaired. What a hectic day but my mission was accomplished and am so happy and glad.
