I'm not really a fan of horror movies, I don't like sitting on movie that would give me nightmares later. Still when I first saw the trailer, I was intrigued and regardless of how I feel about horror movies, I downloaded it immediately to watch. My thought was that "it's just going to be another creepy clown movie, with the killing and all".
Quinn and her father moved to a new town called Kettle Springs after the death of her mother. Now in this town, the adults has it hard for the teenagers.
Kettle Springs is well known for its corn syrup factory which provided jobs to the adults in the town. One day, a set of teenagers went into the factory and by accident, the factory got burnt down.
The adults are angry and believe that the teenagers are reckless and lazy. Meanwhile the teenagers just wanted to have fun but things didn't just go the way they hoped. This is not just about the killing and all, it's about revenge. How people still hold on to grudges.
Now a clown, Frendo, the town's old mascot comes to life and starts brutally killing the teenagers which were connected to the incident at the factory.
Clown in a cornfield is slasher movie with a lot of fun. I would not say it was horror because it was not really scary, just the creepy eerie sound and the jumpscares.
It could be just me though. The clown and killings didn't make me jump like the Terrifier did.
When you watch further, you'd see that the movie is not just about the killings, it's about old people who miss their good old days and the young ones who want change.
With all said, I actually enjoyed the movie. I still would not call it a deep horror movie.
For me, I'd give it a 7/10, I loved it because it was not scary enough to give me nightmares, but it was not also boring.
