LOH #255:- Making a Home My Own

If someone were to ask me if I would rather buy a big, old house that needs a lot of repairs but is cheaper, or a smaller house that is already fixed but way more expensive. My answer is simple, I would pick the first one.

Why? Because to me, a house is not about moving in and getting comfortable right away. It’s about having a place I can shape to my liking, a place that grows with me and I grow with it.

A smaller and already made house might sound easier because you don’t have to fix anything, you just move your stuff and start living, but it doesn’t have space. And to me, it would be someone else’s choice of design and even if I like it, it would not be really me.

I like having my own space. There are things I would want to do in my house, designs I would love to have and paintings I would love to hang on every corners. In a bigger house, I would finally have a whole room for my fangirling. With posters on the wall and souvenirs, I would have my own little fandom cave. I could have a library with different books and another room would just be a quiet space whenever I need peace. There would be a big yard, ooh..maybe a garden. A smaller house would only have a room or two. All of these would have to squeeze into my bedroom in a smaller house.

Now, look at the bigger, older house. Maybe the roof is weak, and the kitchen is outdated. It means you can take your time with repairs, taking them one after the other. To me, that’s smarter. I would rather start small and fix it slowly than blow all my money in one shot. The bigger house gives you room to grow, even if you don’t need all the rooms now, you’ll be glad you have them later on.

The smaller houses often look nice, but they all look the same. Yes, repairs cost money, but they also add value. Not only do you have a bigger and nicer place to live, but also a comfortable home.

You get comfort in the smaller house and it costs less, but you didn’t shape it, you just accepted it.

Space is freedom and once you have it, you won't regret it.

So yep, I’d take the bigger older house, the extra rooms and the big yard and the chance to create a home I can truly call mine. My own fangirl cave and all.

So yes, I’m on team repair to my liking.
