I'm Diego Lopez @encuentro inviting you to participate @lcampesina, @enraizar and @sayury Today I woke up giving thanks for another day, and despite the power being out, I went out to the patio with a different intention. Inspired by reading a post from this @gardenhive community, which I always visit but had never participated in before, I decided it was a good time to share my experience. This is my first time writing here, hehe, and I'm doing it with good intentions, from my small place in Venezuela. $1 In the patio of my humble home, under the kind shade of a breadfruit tree, where my green companions are growing. There I have some coffee plants that this year, fortunately, began to bear fruit. Coffee has a special place in my life, not only for its flavor, but for what it represents: patience, and the joy of seeing something you've planted bear fruit. But they're not the only ones that accompany me. I also planted some herbs that we know here as "cloves" or "well carnations." These plants are native to humid places, and although I couldn't find them in my yard, I remembered seeing them near a canal that no longer runs, but which in the winter becomes muddy and quite fertile. They always caught my attention because of their delicate flowers and reddish stems. It was during a terrible and difficult time in my health, when my kidneys were giving me problems and my feet were so swollen I couldn't even work, that I began to talk to the plants. I asked them for help, I told them about my pain, looking for a sign. In the midst of that anxious search for relief, I remembered those herbs from the dry stream. I asked a local elder, and he told me they were called "well carnations." I immediately went to investigate further, discovering that they were excellent for treating ailments and are kidney diuretics. 🤠🤠🤠🤠 $1 I began drinking infusions of this plant for two weeks, three glasses a day, combined with turmeric, another wonder. I also have it in my yard, as you can see. Turmeric, besides being a delicious condiment, has anti-inflammatory properties in cooking, helps oxygenate the body, and fights bacteria. I once thought these plants could be poison. Today, I continue to consume these plants and am grateful for the knowledge that the elders, like that old man, share, which we can now compare with what we find on the internet and alternative medical research. Turmeric has given me good harvests. In December, when it's harvested, here in Venezuela I managed to obtain 400 grams from a single plant. It's a magical gift from the earth, as it doesn't get plagued, and I take advantage of it both in the kitchen and for my well-being. "And I couldn't forget to mention Chinese spinach, or Malabar spinach, which is nourishing me in very tasty stews. It came from a small plant a neighbor gave me, and now I have plenty. There's no need to plant it: it leaves seeds and sprouts in winter." 🤗🤗🤗🤗 $1 My relationship with plants goes beyond the physical plane. I talk to them, I observe them, and I try to understand what they enjoy in their silence. In a country like mine, where inflation has reached unimaginable levels in the millions and political uncertainty is a daily presence, condemned to poverty, contact with na esture has become my lifeblood. Refuge. Plants don't judge, don't criticize, don't make false promises, but they are always there, growing, resisting, teaching. From Venezuela, my friends, I send you a big hug. This post may not be the most perfect, but it is written with sincerity and love. I greatly appreciate any guidance you can give me, and I am pleased to have taken this first step to share with all of you. I will continue talking to my plants more often, because in them I find peace, medicine, nourishment, and a way to move forward.
