Upon exiting the condo to the small parking area and mini-patio this morning, something ran over my foot. It stopped but a yard from me and shivered against the sun baked brick wall. It was disoriented, scared and looked at me with pleading puppy dog eyes.
I called the princesses out to see it and they somewhat chased it, thankfully heeding my command to not do so. We tried to give it some trail mix, which scared it and set its fight or flight instinct in motion. The flight lasted a mere two seconds as it ran face first into the adjoining wall. It turned and again ran - face first into the opposite wall. This was when I knew something was wrong.
I carefully approached it and proceeded to fetch it. I followed it for a good block as it bumped in to various objects and even turned around to unsuccessfully climb my leg before wrapping it soundly in a blanket.

See her eye? Something isn't right. So, for the time being - though against the law and lease contract - it is residing in one of the bathrooms. The hope is it is temporarily stunned from either a fall or car bump and will recover.
Just like we will. There is a new post from @ewfund with ways you can help and I will make a post soon with sooty details, just be patient with me. Thank you to all known and unknown generous souls in our terrible time. Also, REMEMBER TO BE YOU! I always am, even when I get a little squirrelly.
