Hoy Venezuela entera se vistió de ilusión, La Vinotinto se jugaba el partido más importante de su historia, el pase al repechaje rumbo al Mundial 2026. En Maturín, nuestra selección enfrentaba a Colombia con la esperanza de hacer historia y acercarse por primera vez, a la gran cita del fútbol mundial.
Como muchos, no logré conseguir entradas para el estadio, asi que sali a un lugar donde pudiera compartir cervezas, emociones y nervios con otros corazones vinotinto, el ambiente estaba super animado, cada jugada se vivía como si estuviéramos en la cancha. Mientras tanto en El Alto, Bolivia enfrentaba a Brasil en otro duelo decisivo y aunque parecía improbable, Bolivia logró lo impensable: venció 1-0 con un gol de penal, esa victoria, sumada a la derrota de Venezuela por 3-6 ante Colombia, nos dejó fuera del repechaje 😕 Dolió mucho porque estuvimos tan cerca.
Pero más allá del resultado, lo que viví esta noche fue una muestra de lo que somos: un país que sueña, que se une, que vibra con su selección ♥️ vi lágrimas, abrazos, gritos, silencios, esperanza. Y aunque esta vez no se dio, el camino recorrido nos deja más fuertes. La Vinotinto nos enseñó que sí se puede, que el sueño mundialista no es una utopía, sino una meta que cada vez se siente más cerca. Hoy no celebramos, pero tampoco nos rendimos porque el fútbol, como la vida, siempre da revancha.
Today, all of Venezuela was filled with excitement. La Vinotinto was playing the most important game in its history, with a spot in the 2026 World Cup playoffs at stake. In Maturín, our team faced Colombia with the hope of making history and getting closer than ever to the world's biggest soccer event.
Like many others, I couldn't get tickets to the stadium, so I went to a place where I could share beers, emotions, and nerves with other Vinotinto fans. The atmosphere was super lively, and every play was experienced as if we were on the field. Meanwhile, in El Alto, Bolivia faced Brazil in another decisive match, and although it seemed unlikely, Bolivia achieved the unthinkable: they won 1-0 with a penalty goal. That victory, combined with Venezuela's 3-6 defeat to Colombia, left us out of the playoffs. It hurt a lot because we were so close.
But beyond the result, what I experienced tonight was a demonstration of who we are: a country that dreams, that unites, that vibrates with its national team ♥️ I saw tears, hugs, screams, silence, hope. And although it didn't happen this time, the journey we've taken makes us stronger. La Vinotinto taught us that it is possible, that the World Cup dream is not a utopia, but a goal that feels closer and closer. Today we are not celebrating, but we are not giving up either, because soccer, like life, always gives you a second chance.
