it's not always easy being a seagull so occasionally when it's cold or rainy or snowing i go to the docks with a high fat treat for them. they show their appreciation by gathering around waiting for me to toss little morsels here and there trying to give each a fair chance at getting some.
in return they don't mind me taking photos of the event. sometimes the results are surprising as it all happens so fast i don't get a chance to see exactly what's in the shots i take. for instance, this gull hasn't gotten all the food in it's mouth quite yet
while these two look like they haven't gotten any yet, or at least haven't gotten enough yet
it was not a heavy rain but it was cold. the gulls don't seem to mind much- they weren't under any shelter before i arrived nor did they leave quickly after they realized i had gone empty.
it's a fact that birds can recognize people. these gulls know when they see me that there may be something to eat coming their way so they pay close attention to my movements to see if this is one of their lucky days. they are extremely quick to gather at any sign or gesture that i have food with me
