📚 Book Review: Vale la pena [ES/EN]

 _{Cover edited in Canva} ¡Hola amigos lectores! Hoy les traigo la reseña de uno de los libros que les comenté que estaba leyendo la semana pasada. Es ***Vale la pena (diario de alguien que ama)*** del autor Javier E. Giangreco. >Hello, readers! Today I bring you a review of one of the books I mentioned I was reading last week. It's ***Vale la pena (diario de alguien que ama)*** by Javier E. Giangreco.  La historia transcurre en 1997, en Argentina, y tiene como protagonistas a unos jóvenes creyentes que forman una comunidad muy unida donde se establecen lazos de amistad duraderos. Acá conoceremos a Jerónimo, el Tano, que descubrió la magia del primer amor y ahora hará todo lo que esté en su mano para conquistar a la chica de sus sueños, no sin antes poner a prueba sus sentimientos y transitar por una serie de obstáculos que le complicaran el camino, como que una de las mejores amigas de la chica que le gusta tenga sentimientos por él y que, además, sea la hermana menor de un amigo, lo que puede interferir con sus relaciones. ¿Qué pasará? Para descubrirlo tienen que leer el libro. >The story takes place in 1997, in Argentina, and features young believers who form a close-knit community where lasting friendships are forged. Here we meet Jerónimo, el Tano, who has discovered the magic of first love and will now do everything in his power to win over the girl of his dreams, but not before testing his feelings and overcoming a series of obstacles that will complicate his path, such as the fact that one of the best friends of the girl he likes has feelings for him and is also the younger sister of a friend, which could interfere with their relationships. Es un libro corto con una narración bastante interesante, ya que transcurre en el presente cuando Jerónimo se encuentra por casualidad con unos chicos en la plaza que no conoce y lo ven tan cabizbajo que le empiezan a preguntar qué es lo que le pasa, y ahí termina contándoles la historia con fragmentos de recuerdos que fue anotando en una especie de diario íntimo contando con lujo de detalles escenas, diálogos y sentimientos para que todos seamos parte de su desdicha. Así que se puede decir que la historia está narrada en dos tiempos, el presente y el pasado.  >It is a short book with a rather interesting narrative, as it takes place in the present when Jerónimo happens to meet some boys he doesn't know in the square and they see him looking so downcast that they start asking him what's wrong, and he ends up telling them the story with fragments of memories that he wrote down in a kind of personal diary, recounting scenes, dialogues, and feelings in great detail so that we can all share in his misery. So it can be said that the story is narrated in two time frames, the present and the past. Es una bonita historia que nos recuerda el valor de la amistad y los buenos valores, me hizo sentir un poco nostálgica porque siento que esas cosas ya no suceden de esa manera, hoy por hoy la gente está más individualista y solo se preocupa por sus propios intereses. A mí me gusta el valor y la identidad que da una comunidad. Me pareció muy sano el ambiente donde transcurre la historia a pesar de que no soy la persona más religiosa.  >It's a beautiful story that reminds us of the value of friendship and good values. It made me feel a little nostalgic because I feel that those things don't happen that way anymore. Today, people are more individualistic and only care about their own interests. I like the value and identity that a community provides. I found the atmosphere in which the story takes place to be very healthy, even though I'm not the most religious person. Los personajes que acompañan al Tano en su aventura me resultaron queribles. Cada uno le aportaba su impronta particular y más de uno me hacía reír. El protagonista es todo un personaje, muy cálido, bueno y tierno en su medida justa. Ahora, la contracara es Ella, la chica de sus sueños. La verdad que en más de una ocasión me dio algo de rabia lo que hacía, podía entender sus motivos, pero al final estaba como para meterme al libro y hacerla entrar en razón, dale, si vos también lo queres!! Jaja. Así de comprometida con la historia estaba. >I found the characters who accompany Tano on his adventure to be endearing. Each one brought their own unique touch, and more than one made me laugh. The protagonist is quite a character, very warm, kind, and tender in just the right measure. Now, the counterpoint is Ella, the girl of his dreams. To be honest, on more than one occasion, what she did made me a little angry. I could understand her motives, but in the end, I wanted to jump into the book and make her see reason. Come on, you want him too! Haha. That's how invested I was in the plot. El libro es de esos cálidos que te transmite lindos sentimientos, y se sintió como leer el diario íntimo de alguien de verdad. Un poco creo que la historia está inspirada en la vida del autor, así que es algo biográfica y la verdad es que esto renovó mis esperanzas en el amor verdadero y duradero. Y amé el mensaje del libro de que más allá de los obstáculos y los dolores que te puede ocasionar amar, vale la pena hacerlo. Así que es un libro más que recomendado por mi parte si quieren leer algo ligero, tierno y que sea una lectura confort.  >The book is one of those heartwarming ones that conveys beautiful feelings, and it felt like reading someone's real diary. I think the story is somewhat inspired by the author's life, so it's somewhat biographical, and the truth is that it renewed my hope in true and lasting love. And I loved the book's message that beyond the obstacles and pain that love can cause, it's worth it. So, I highly recommend this book if you want to read something light, tender, and comforting.
