Today I'm going to post a mix of art again as I love this posting style and it seems I'm not the only one. It's a lot of fun looking at art and even if you're not really an art lover, you can become one just by reading posts on Hive and seeing what others have created.
I'm going to make this post interactive, not only because it's fun, but out of necessity as well, because there are some artworks that I have no idea what they mean.
Let's start with this one. It had a label with the name of the artist and the title, but the location of the artwork made it impossible to take a better shot of the label. Some stairs separated me from it, so ... let's start playing the game.
I know how it's done, it's crocheted and tied using thread, but the meaning is a mystery. I have no idea what the artist meant here, your guess is as good as mine, so let me know what you see here.
Madalina Vieru - Traces
This is the second one I think I'm going to let you explain to me. I took this photo at the textile art exhibition and to be very honest, I don't know what to say. It's not really my style either.
You'd be amazed what gems you could find just scrolling through your photo folders. My ongoing folder cleaning has huge advantages and this is how I came across these small sculptures I photographed last year in February. Lat's take it one by one as it's difficult to see them on the photo above.
Looking at it, if I'm not mistaken, it's ceramics, which makes it cooler. An envelop with seal and a written letter I suppose. I love it!
This is the seal. Back in the middle ages and not only ,these seals were of utmost importance. Nobles, royals had their own seal and tried to stop forgery by using these when sending letters and notes.
A funny version of the concept.
Bogdan Nueleanu - Heruvim/Kerub
Most likely you've heard of out of the box expression. I think you can apply here. Two legs and a plain plate body, which could be the winds as well.
A cherub is one type of supernatural being in the Abrahamic religions. The numerous depictions of cherubim assign to them many different roles, such as protecting the entrance of the Garden of Eden.
Ádám Baróthy - Grand Staircase
Apologies for the background, but it wasn't my choice.
Gheorghe Popa - Maternity
Very unconventional, but very interesting too. You don't see a lot of stone sculptures these days and this one is on a wooden pedestal as well. I love how the details, like arms and legs are missing and the texture of the stone is adding a lot to it.
Vasile Muresan - Pray
This is a strange one, unconventional too and I'm curious to know if you see what it is, so I'm not going to reveal more.
Attila Nagy - Points of View
Looking at this wooden sculpture, makes me wonder how these artworks are born. Which one is first? The idea? The title? Maybe one day I'll have the chance to talk to a sculptor or a metal artist, or a textile artist. Painters and graphic artists are a different category as there you kink of know, but here?
Gábor Hunor Veress - The Watcher
Here they gave us the English title and honestly, I'd have never guessed the title.
Ioan Alexandru Herdelau
This is typical house you see in some areas of the country, but not very often. I mean it's a village house, an old one, but back in the day when people built such houses, two-story houses were not many. People were poor. Anyway, what I like here is the visible brush strokes and lack of precision, so to speak. Precision in art is not a plus, can lead to the painting looking like kitsch, which I hate.
Last, but not least, an exceptional portrait from the same artist, painted with the same style. Maybe it looks messy to you, but I love it. I love the colors here, the brown hair, the lovely skin color, the lipstick and the blue background. Would be happy to own this piece.
Let me know which one is your favorite and let's see what you see in those artworks without title :)
