The Quest for Opportunities

In Nigeria, my country, it is generally referred to as japa: the act of leaving the country to find a better life elsewhere. In most cases, developed countries are targeted; never with the intention of interacting with a new culture, but with the intention of making it in life. It has worked for many, and it's yet to work for more. --- ![1000242337.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ernesto6402/AKe6HYmzehtmDmpkMuqXgV2X9Nn8Dp72rf2eXvQHFYAtPNG47YTutdn4YWbgSvS.jpg) --- I am Ernest, and if I am given enough money to establish myself here in my country, I will erase every idea of japa from my mind. Yes, I too want to japa, but that will become a thing of the past if enough capital is given to me to start up a sustainable business. I love my country, and if things were better than they already are, I might not have to relocate to another country in search of a better life. In other words, I might not have any reason to japa. If I were given a reasonable amount of money, one of the problems that comes with being in my country would have been taken care of; and that problem is opportunities. From what I can understand, most people flee to other countries in search of a better life. Not just in search of money, but also in search of their dream life, and that is the point. I have got lots of ideas in my head, ones that may never be actualised if I at least do not have the resources to bring them to life. Now, the labour system has made things even more difficult; one, as a matter of fact, might have to work for eternity if he must earn enough to establish himself well enough, and that is the problem. --- ![1000242345.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ernesto6402/AKwKSNDhqQ4NP4U3UNB8zVUaTbX3HUueA1jj4gYZN949eydfn8kVWg9yRRJxjCf.jpg) --- In my country and in so many other African countries, labour is extremely cheap; people literally work for nothing. For me, that is exactly why I want to leave the country. But if I am on the other hand given a reasonable sum of money, it means that I have the opportunity to escape the labour system by becoming an entrepreneur myself. Thus, there might probably be no reason to leave any longer. I would in fact have the opportunity to impact on the labour system as much as I can. All most young people want is a better life, and I am no exception; I too want a better life. As a matter of fact, I may not even need a very huge sum of money to stay back here in my country. Enough to empower me and many others who need it might do, but there are not many opportunities like this. Coupled with the fact that making a living as a labourer seems to be even more difficult, many tend to resort to travelling out, which they consider a better opportunity. **In all, I am one of those who would eventually abort the plan of japaing if I am given a huge sum of money. I am @ernesto6402 and I appreciate you for reading through to the end. One Love ✌️.** --- ##### **All Pictures used for this post were generated using Meta AI** ![IMG_20240328_144926.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ernesto6402/23xL59csuhTE6h9z13UvC6oaaPApKgGizvefiMENuMPUM82NHQXN5hbHLAztxRJM1YEN7.jpg)
