Life is unfair. That explains why people who we struggled with eventually leave us when they get a better opportunity. On the one hand, I blame them for their actions; on the other hand, I do not. I blame them simply because one should never forsake their family; but then, it depends on what one believes. The world has, of course, got so many theories to offer, and one of them is the theory of class. It is in fact not a theory; it is reality - "like class" always attracts "like class". Nevertheless, I am still of the opinion that one should not forget one's family.

Due to lessons learnt from life, I do not pay serious attention to the attitude of my friends who have changed in class; I simply do not force myself. That notwithstanding, I must admit that many of my friends have really shown how much value family can be. I of course do not expect them to be as available as they were, but even in their higher class, they still recognise what we shared. In all, I guess it is all about personality.
Blessing used to be a very good friend of mine; a childhood friend. In her case, I do not know whether she became more successful than I was, but there was certainly a change in class. At that point in time, she relocated from Port Harcourt to Benin for her tertiary education. From her WhatsApp status and Facebook posts, it became obvious that she is now a different Blessing, but I did not mind. I innocently imagined that Blessing would forever be my old-time childhood friend, come what may, but I was completely wrong. It did not take long for her to start making me realise that I was being a nuisance in her life.
Blessing was the first ever to disappoint our friendship, and I was not fast enough to realise what she was doing. When I eventually did, it was not easy for me. I felt really bad, but beyond what I felt, a lesson was learnt. It was from that day that I began expecting nothing special from friends who experience a change in class. Thus, I realised that there will always be a difference once a person is no longer on the same level as me, so to say. To date, my theory has not failed; there has been no one who has changed in level and remained normal. Yet, I appreciate those who once in a while remember their family.
It is probably the case that we expect too much. The world has made it in such a way that like class attracts each other, yet there could be very few abnormal people who fail to align with what the world says. But then, it seems almost impossible; imagine a rich man having more poor friends than rich ones. Thus, the fact that there are those who remember the friends they had when they were poor is probably enough. In all, I advise that we do not expect much.
