Some facts about Donetsk region The Donetsk coal basin (from where, in fact, the name "Donbass") is rich not only with natural solid fuel. Even in prehistoric times, gold, copper, and silver were smelted here. Donetsk region has in its bowels unique deposits of rock salt, white clay (kaolin), used for the production of quality porcelain, as well as mercury ore (cinnabar), zirconium, granites, chalk, limestone.
