Se acercaba el mes de octubre y mis alumnos me estaban preguntando que si haríamos actividades relacionadas a la celebración, yo por supuesto hice la respectiva pregunta en todos los grupos para saber si alguno de ellos era cristiano ya que esta celebración no es apoyada por esta religión y yo no quería incomodar a ninguno. Al recibir respuesta de que ninguno tenía algún problema con esto me sentí más cómoda y basé el cronograma que tenemos para este ciclo con algunos artistas que se relacionaran con el tema. La idea era incluir actividades que no fueran tan perturbadoras, pues son niños y la idea no es que se sientan incómodos de realizarlas. Encontré 4 actividades perfectas relacionadas al tema sin que fueran muy terroríficas. La primera de ellas es la que les hablaré el día de hoy, pintamos "el grito" de Edvard Munch. Esta es una obra muy famosa que encaja perfecto con el tema del terror sin ser algo tan tétrico. Tenía mucho tiempo queriendo incluirlo pero no había encontrado la ocasión perfecta. La idea de la actividad era que los niños pintaran el fondo y que en lugar de hacer el personaje principal del cuadro, les iba a tomar una foto a ellos para luego pegarlas en sus obras y que ellos fueran los protagonistas.Hello, everyone!
October was approaching, and my students were asking if we would be doing activities related to the holiday. Of course, I asked all the groups if any of them were Christian, since this holiday isn't supported by that religion, and I didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable. When I received the response that none of them had a problem with it, I felt more at ease and based our schedule for this term on some artists who could relate to the theme. The idea was to include activities that weren't too disturbing, since they are children, and the goal wasn't for them to feel uncomfortable doing them. I found four perfect activities related to the theme without being too scary. The first one is what I'll talk about today: we painted "The Scream" by Edvard Munch. This is a very famous work that fits perfectly with the theme of horror without being too gruesome. I had wanted to include it for a long time but hadn't found the perfect opportunity. The idea was that the children would paint the background, and instead of painting the main character, I would take a picture of them and then paste it onto their artwork so they would be the protagonists.
Esta idea la vi en Pinterest y me pareció genial, sé que será un foco importante durante nuestra galería y ellos se divertirán mucho al ver las expresiones de sus compañeros.
El primer grupo había llegado al local y cuando estaba comenzando a explicarles de qué trataba la actividad se nos fue la electricidad.
Yo la verdad tenía mucha ilusión de la clase y me estresé un poco porque pensaba que se había arruinado. Por suerte no había calor en el local y le pregunté a las niñas que si querían trabajar así. Ellas accedieron y entre todas movimos la mesa a una zona donde nos daba mejor la luz natural.

The first group had arrived at the venue, and just as I was starting to explain the activity, the power went out.
I was really looking forward to the class and got a little stressed because I thought it was ruined. Luckily, it wasn't hot in the venue, and I asked the girls if they wanted to work like that. They agreed, and together we moved the table to an area with better natural light.
Para que vean un poco de que trataba la actividad acá les dejó el resultado de las chicas y las fotos que les tomé a cada una con su mejor expresión de terror jajaja
Ellas al principio estaban un poco dudosas pero luego al ver a sus compañeras haciendo lo mismo se animaban y luego se reían. Ese día logramos sacar adelante la clase, aunque la terminamos una media hora antes para que el calor no nos sofocara.

They were a little hesitant at first, but then, seeing their classmates doing the same, they got excited and started laughing. We managed to pull off the class that day, although we finished about half an hour early so the heat wouldn't overwhelm us.
Con otro grupo la dinámica fue la misma, les expliqué como íbamos a desarrollar la actividad. Ellas trazaron el boceto, luego comenzaron a agregar color.
Todas las niñas entienden súper rápido las técnicas y se concentran para lograr el mejor resultado. Claro que en el proceso hay conversaciones y muchos cuentos y en ocasiones me tocá recordarles que deben continuar con sus actividades jajaja.
With another group, the process was the same. I explained how we were going to do the activity. They drew the sketch, then started adding color.
All the girls grasp the techniques really quickly and concentrate to achieve the best result. Of course, there are conversations and lots of stories during the process, and sometimes I have to remind them to get back to their work, haha.
Con una de las niñas tengo un poco de problemas a la hora de tomarle las fotos. Ella es una niña muy alegre pero las cámaras son su enemigo número 1. No he logrado tomarle una foto sonriendo y esta actividad no hubo manera de que aceptara hacer la foto con la expresión de susto.
Así que con ella me tocó trabajar con la obra original y bueno su expresión no refleja lo que ella se divierte en las clases. La verdad no se porque detesta tanto las fotos pero bueno, ahí le vamos tratando de hacer mejor la experiencia y esperamos pronto lograr una foto bien sonriente.
I'm having a little trouble taking pictures of one of the girls. She's a very cheerful child, but cameras are her number one enemy. I haven't managed to get a picture of her smiling, and for this activity, there was no way she'd agree to have her picture taken with that scared expression.
So, I had to work with the original artwork, and well, her expression doesn't reflect how much fun she has in class. I honestly don't know why she hates photos so much, but we're working on making the experience better, and we hope to get a picture of her smiling soon.
Este día estaba bien contenta porque había logrado que la mayoría hiciera esta actividad tan divertida. Este día terminaba mi jornada por la semana, así que decidí quedarme un poco más de tiempo luego de terminada la clase para arreglar un poco el local, que estaba caótico luego de una semana de máscaras de Picasso (había cartones por todos lados).
Barrí, acomodé y coloqué toda la basura en una bolsa. La verdad era un montón jajaja El local quedó hermoso y yo feliz por dejarlo en orden. De ahí apagué todo y me fui a hacer mi compra semanal. Así termina este recorrido por una semana de clases trabajando con "el grito", nos leemos en un próximo post. ♥
I was really happy that day because I'd managed to get most of the students to participate in this fun activity. It was the last day of my week, so I decided to stay a little longer after class to tidy up the place, which was a mess after a week of making Picasso masks (there was cardboard everywhere).
I swept, tidied up, and put all the trash in a bag. There was a ton of it, haha. The place looked beautiful, and I was so happy to have left it in order.
