| Эти фотографии я сделала прошлым летом на даче у моей подруги. Мы сидели на веранде, пили чай, наблюдали за облаками. Тишина и лепота. | I took these photos last summer at my friend's dacha. We were sitting on the veranda, drinking tea, watching the clouds. Silence and beauty. |
| Мы знали, что наверху веранды проживает крупный паук. Он иногда висел на своей паутине. Но чаще всего недвижимо сидел, не обращая внимания на мелких мошек, застрявших в его паутине. | We knew that a large spider lived at the top of the veranda. Sometimes it hung on its web. But most often it sat motionless, not paying attention to the small midges stuck in its web. |
| В этот день мы поняли, что он ждал добычу покрупнее. Все мы в детстве читали сказку Корнея Чуковского «Муха-Цокатуха». На именинах мухи в разгар веселья случилось страшное: | That day we realized that it was waiting for larger prey. As children, we all read the fairy tale "Fly-Tsokatukha" by Korney Chukovsky. At the fly's birthday party, in the midst of the fun, something terrible happened: |

| Живую иллюстрацию этой сцены мы смогли наблюдать. | We were able to observe a living illustration of this scene. |
| И знаете, это было реально страшно! Особенно впечатляющей была скорость этого большого и «ленивого» паука. | And you know, it was really scary! The speed of this large and "lazy" spider was especially impressive. |
| Менее чем за секунду паук не только допрыгнул до мухи, но и полностью её запаковал в свою паутину и унёс под крышу веранды. | In less than a second, the spider not only jumped up to the fly, but also completely wrapped it in its web and carried it under the roof of the veranda. |
| «А злодей-то не шутит,
Руки-ноги он Мухе верёвками крутит, Зубы острые в самое сердце вонзает И кровь у неё выпивает.» |

He twists the Fly's arms and legs with ropes, He plunges his sharp teeth into the very heart And drinks her blood." |
| Фотоаппараты лежали у нас тут же на перилах. Но пока мы протянули к ним руки, всё уже закончилось. | Our cameras were lying right there on the railing. But by the time we reached out to them, everything was already over. |
| Мне оставалось лишь попытаться запечатлеть жуткую трапезу хищника. | All I could do was try to capture the predator's terrible meal. |
| На паука с тех пор мы смотрели слегка с опаской. | From then on, we looked at the spider with a little apprehension. |
