Esta autora es una de mis preferidas en cuanto a libros de misterio. Tengo que confesar que colecciono sus libros. Uno de los que más me han gustado es “El espejo roto”, porque no se espera el final.
This author is one of my favorites when it comes to mystery books. I have to confess that I collect her books. One of the ones I liked the most is “The Broken Mirror”, because you don't expect the ending.

La trama sigue la historia de una de las nuevas moradoras de Saint Mary Mead, la famosa actriz de cine Marina Gregg, quien se ha trasladado a Inglaterra para protagonizar una película sobre la emperatriz Isabel de Baviera y ha adquirido Gossington Hall a la amiga de Miss Marple, Dolly Bantry. Marina Gregg organiza una fiesta de beneficencia en Gossington Hall. Durante la recepción, una de las invitadas es envenenada. The plot follows the history of one of the new residents of Saint Mary Mead, the famous film actress Marina Gregg, who has moved to England to star in a film about Empress Elizabeth of Bavaria and has purchased Gossington Hall from Miss Marple's friend, Dolly Bantry. Marina Gregg organizes a charity party at Gossington Hall. During the reception, one of the guests is poisoned. But was she the intended victim? Would anyone want to kill Marina Gregg?

En el pequeño pueblo de la anciana Mis Marple, personaje tan apasionante como Hércules Poirot, se produce un gran revuelo al establecerse una famosa actriz, Marina Gregg. Entonces, luego de una hermosa recepción de beneficencia que ofrece Marina, una de sus invitadas es envenenada. El misterio comienza al involucrarse la policía, que no se explican quién querría envenenar a una mujer tan amable y común como Heather Badcock. Entonces comienzan a sospechar que fue envenenada por error.
In the small town of the elderly Miss Marple, a character as fascinating as Hercule Poirot, there is a great stir when a famous actress, Marina Gregg, moves in. Then, after a beautiful charity reception hosted by Marina, one of her guests is poisoned. The mystery begins when the police get involved, unable to explain who would want to poison a woman as kind and ordinary as Heather Badcock. They then begin to suspect that she was poisoned by mistake.
La historia está llena de giros inesperados y un misterio que envuelve a todos sus protagonistas. Cada uno de ellos tiene secretos e irán emergiendo a medida que transcurre la investigación, y les puedo asegurar que ninguno de ellos se los espera el lector y todos son impactantes. No es una trama simple sino todo lo contrario y con unos personajes complejos y bien estudiados. La propia Marina me sorprendió, al ser una mujer atormentada e inestable, rasgos que la convierten en una excelente actriz dramática, pero en una mujer triste.
The history is full of unexpected twists and a mystery that envelops all its protagonists. Each of them has secrets that will emerge as the investigation progresses, and I can assure you that none of them are expected by the reader and all are shocking. It is not a simple plot, but quite the opposite, with complex and well-studied characters. Marina herself surprised me, being a tormented and unstable woman, traits that make her an excellent dramatic actress, but a sad woman.
El tema de la maternidad y los niños en este libro resulta intrigante y nos lleva a reflexionar sobre el dolor, el rencor y la tristeza que significan la pérdida y las enfermedades mentales, incluso luego de muchos años. La mezcla de tragedias que parecen perseguir a la actriz hace que el lector pueda compadecerse por ella y seguir la trama del libro para descubrir al infame culpable. Es un libro muy bueno para los amantes del misterio y el suspenso.
The theme of motherhood and children in this book is intriguing and leads us to reflect on the pain, resentment, and sadness that loss and mental illness bring, even after many years. The mix of tragedies that seem to haunt the actress makes the reader sympathize with her and follow the plot of the book to discover the infamous culprit. It is a very good book for lovers of mystery and suspense.
