It was a Friday night and my friend was nagging me that she was stressed and wanted to unwind. She asked me to join her for a food trip and initially, I wasn't sure about it. Saturdays are the busiest days for me since I have school. But then, an announcement was made that class was cancelled. I hate sudden cancellations because it messes up everyone's schedule. Nevertheless, I decided to call my friend and asked her to get dressed. I told her that I would be waiting for her at the school gate and that dinner was on me. That's how my date started that weekend.
We talked about everything, just like we always do. I even posted our picture on social media, and funny thing that people became curious about who she was. Some even asked if she was my girlfriend or someone else. I just laughed it off. It's always fun to make people curious about something; the real Marites (Gossipers) of finding the truth.
We decided to have a simple dinner together, but I reminded her that I dont want the food to be wasted; she must eat and enjoy and I also did. So, I suggested we go to a Korean restaurant since I knew she was a big fan of Kdramas. We ordered a self-serving grilled dish, and while I enjoyed my meal, she was busy cooking and cutting the meat. I couldn't help but laugh. It was like she was doing all the hard work, and I was reaping all the rewards.
She commented that I looked like I had lost weight, and it wasn't just her who had noticed it. I had, too. Some clothes that used to be tight on me now fit comfortably. I explained that I had been doing intermittent fasting for a month now and was hoping to see some positive results in three to four months. However, stress from work and school had contributed to my weight loss as well. I still ate a lot, like a starving man.
We chatted for a while longer, and she told me some stories while grilling. I agreed with her and ate my food. She even felt insecure when I offered her some rice since I wasn't eating it anymore. It seemed like she wanted to lose some weight, too, but she refused the rice in the end lol. Am I am not gentlemen at that moment? hehe
I knew she had some problems in her life, but I pretended not to know and let her speak. I treated her to dinner since I wanted to show her that I cared. I checked on her often, but sometimes, all she needed was someone to listen to her.
After dinner, we walked around the mall a bit before heading home. I laughed at how people had reacted to our picture on social media. Maybe we should go on more dinner dates, so I can annoy more people, I joked.
Overall, it was a great weekend. Sometimes, it's the little things like dinner dates with friends that can help us unwind and destress. Happy Weekend everyone.
