Saludos apreciados lectores hoy de vida y amor a mi blog con un arte urbano que da referencia a esos espacios tan comunes que algunas veces los transeúntes pasamos desapercibidos, sin darnos cuenta que esto puede ser parte de un patrimonio, como algunas obras arquitectónicas o escultóricas, cuyo fin aparte de ser funcional también sirven como elementos decorativos que dan vida a distintos lugares.
Greetings dear readers today of life and love to my blog with an urban art that gives reference to those spaces so common that sometimes passers-by go unnoticed, without realizing that this can be part of a heritage, as some architectural or sculptural works, whose purpose apart from being functional also serve as decorative elements that give life to different places.
Por eso hoy deseo registrar una escultura emblemática de la parroquia Sucre, cercana al parque del oeste y la estación del metro Gato Negro ubicada en la ciudad de Caracas – Venezuela. La misma tiene por nombre **"La Culebra y el Colibrí"** realizada por el artista italiano Doménico Silvestro (1982) he [aquí](https://fundaayc.com/2018/05/06/1982-escultura-la-culebra-y-el-colibri/) un poco de su historia.
That is why today I want to record an emblematic sculpture of the Sucre parish, near the west park and the Gato Negro subway station located in the city of Caracas - Venezuela. The name of the sculpture is **"The Snake and the Hummingbird "** made by the Italian artist Domenico Silvestro (1982). Hace más de 40 años esta escultura ubicada en una plazoleta con una sencilla jardinería, ha sido punto de encuentro para ir al parque del oeste o para tomar los transportes que se dirigen al estado la Guaira, ya que cerca esta su parada en la que hay varias autobuses con diversos destinos hacia esta ciudad dormitorio, costera y recreacional repleta de divinas playas y espacios turístico visitada a diario por los caraqueños.
More than 40 years ago this sculpture located in a small square with a simple gardening, has been a meeting point to go to the west park or to take the transports that go to the state of La Guaira, since near this stop there are several buses with different destinations to this dormitory, coastal and recreational city full of divine beaches and tourist spaces visited daily by the Caracas citizens.
La culebra y el Colibrí en su plazoleta han servido incluso como punto para entrega de encomiendas, para reuniones o simplemente para comerse un helado a solas, con amigos o para los enamorados, siendo esto posible gracias a los establecimientos de panadería, dulcería, heladería y más que se han venido edificando cerca de esta escultura.
The culebra and the Colibri in its small square have even served as a point for delivery of parcels, for meetings or simply to eat an ice cream alone, with friends or for lovers, this being possible thanks to the bakery, candy store, ice cream parlor and more that have been built near this sculpture.
Con el tiempo debido a la falta de vigilancia y cuidado este espacio se fue convirtiendo en un punto de delincuencia e indigencia, el cual gracias a la intensa solicitud de las comunidades aledañas a la alcaldía de Caracas, se esta recuperando este sitio al igual que muchos otros que se han ido rescatando y otros nuevos que han realizado, los cuales están dándole a la ciudad una imagen más segura y confortable.
Over time, due to the lack of surveillance and care, this space was becoming a point of crime and destitution, which thanks to the intense request of the surrounding communities to the Mayor's Office of Caracas, this site is being recovered as well as many others that have been rescued and new ones that have been made, which are giving the city a safer and more comfortable image.
Para mí la Culebra y el Colibrí ha servido como punto de encuentro para reuniones o dar direcciones incluso de mi residencia ya que vivo muy cerca de este lugar, por eso sentí el gusto de registrar el proceso de su recuperación que fui viendo durante el mes de agosto día y noche cuando salía y regresaba a casa según mi jornada diaria.
For me the Culebra y el Colibrí has served as a meeting point for meetings or to give directions even to my residence since I live very close to this place, so I felt the pleasure of recording the process of recovery that I saw during the month of August day and night when I went out and returned home according to my daily routine.
Creo que esta escultura y sus alrededores es un recurso ambiental recreativo y simbólico que ha sido merecedor de ser recuperado, de lo que siento es importante dar a conocer por el servicio atractivo y funcional que ofrece a la comunidad de Catia, las cosas buenas hay que nombrarlas y valorarlas al momento y para la posteridad, y elementos como estos aun más ya que quizás en un futuro no estén y pasen a formar parte de una leyenda urbana de esta localidad, de la que yo podré decir: *¡Es cierto si existió, yo estuve bajo la culebra y el colibrí para encontramos!*
I believe that this sculpture and its surroundings is a recreational and symbolic environmental resource that has been worthy of being recovered, which I feel it is important to make known for the attractive and functional service it offers to the community of Catia, good things must be named and valued at the time and for posterity, and elements like these even more because perhaps in the future they will not be there and will become part of an urban legend of this town, of which I will be able to say: *It is true if it existed, I was under the snake and the hummingbird to find!*
