It has always been interesting for me to analyze my creative path. I like to take pictures without thinking about anything, just to create, to create a picture-a response to reality. But it's all in the moment. And when a year or two or more passes, there is a desire to summarize, analyze the path traveled.
That's how I get all kinds of terms like spotty street, contrast, or reportage.
Once upon a time, I photographed staged portraits on the street, blurred the background, caught the light, and looked for an interesting background.
Then I moved very far away from the stage and began to shoot life as it is.
But that experience has been preserved, and now I have noticed that I often began to photograph not only all kinds of scenes with chiaroscuro on the streets, but pay more attention to people, in particular their portraits.
It turns out that I photograph portraits, but not staged anymore.
This is happening in the wake of the reportage street.
If I switch to a contrasting street, where a person is only an addition to the chiaroscuro composition, then there will be no portraits.
It seems to me that if a photographer can see, he will make a beautiful picture in any genre from all existing ones.
And being able to see is not only a gift or talent, it's also a technical aspect that needs to be developed.
But these are all frameworks that very often spoil a person's unique vision.
The mastodons of photography teach not just any rules, but freedom of perception.
That's what happened to me once: the framework I was in was destroyed.
But I still have my personal perception, and it's valuable.
Perception of the world around us is the language of communication not only with the viewer, but also with oneself.
And if I see and photograph portraits of people in a certain period of time, it means that in my work I need to learn something, or these are some kind of personal experiences.
That's why I like to analyze everything! I'm trying to figure out what was bothering me at what time, so that I could get at least a general picture of my inner world.
This is what self-discovery through photography is all about!
