I photographed the dugouts in Klimovskoye on a winter day, but this is not at all the atmosphere that is suitable for these structures. An August starry night is what I need! But the cellar town presented a surprise in the form of pitch darkness. I thought there would be at least some kind of light source. Although after a while my eyes got used to the darkness and I could already walk around the mud without a flashlight.
Let me remind you that Klimovskoye is a village in the Cherepovets district of the Vologda region with a population of more than two thousand people.
Klimovskoe has more than two hundred cellars of two types: recessed with a single-pitched cellar and the same, but with a double-pitched one.
In simple words, the dugouts here are square and triangular...the former are mostly more numerous.
All the cellars are located on a hillside on the outskirts of the village behind the garage cooperatives. There are a lot of abandoned ones.
Somewhere far away in the sky, a faint reddish aurora borealis appeared.
Some of the abandoned cellars are located in thickets of bushes and hogweed.
Most likely, the hogweed forced the owners of the cellars to stop their using.
And there was a dog sitting by one of the dugouts, which tried to scare me by barking sharply.
But I was so immersed in the serene night atmosphere that I didn't react at all to the sudden live alarm.
It's a pity, because of the darkness, it was not possible to capture the scale of the cellar town.
There are creepy places, but I was quite comfortable in this, despite the darkness and silence, where even the grasshoppers were silent.
I promised to come back in the summer and I didn't regret it. It was wonderful!
