Flying over dusty hills That fade into mist at horizon’s end, An alien creature’s lonely trills, Call out like one who is seeking a friend.

But what can be here to give reply Amidst this place of sand and stone, For there is only you and I. Is that all? Are we alone?

Hope it is that keeps you flying, Your eyes still focused on the sunbaked ground, The lonely soul persists in trying, Until at last its mate is found.
