The beauty of life is in appreciating and accepting our differences. Communal living is living together peaceful irrespective of the differences we may have either based on religion, ethnicity, ideology etc. Also, communal living also involves the kind of living where families dwell and relate together in the neighborhood, street or town. Communal living by extension also refers to the primitive family model of relationship to extended family members and not just nuclear "me and mine" which is the order of the day now.
Life is not meant to be lived all alone as it is not possible to be so self sufficient not to need any anyone or anything at any point in time. Communal living has in the past help in the growth and development of some certain places which we now admire now even as it foster peace, unity, social responsibility and moat importantly, enhances security which is now a major challenge in some developing nations. Back in the days, it is easy to identify everyone and when something appears strange, quick identification is possible, but now, this solitary lifestyle is bringing about threats especially in security and harm to people which lowers the rate of development or growth even as people are increasingly disinterested in social responsibilities.
There has been cases of sudden deaths of people in the neighborhood even with the closest neighbor not aware of when the person was ill talkless of been taking to the healthcare facility for proper treatment. Some because of privacy has shut out friends, family and even neighbors from their home which on the long run has disadvantages more than the advantage. There was a case of a man who died four years ago that his remains was discovered in his home without the neighbors been aware. Source
One of the greatest panacea to insecurity is communal living even as this helps to check illegal enteries and help to flush out the hidding places of the unwanted miscreants in any neighborhood or society. In addition, through communal social responsibility, environments/surroundings are tidy up and social amenities are easily achieved which might be impossible or difficult to achieve through individual sole efforts. Take for example, in my neighborhood, we had a faulty transformer issue which threw many homes both far and near into darkness. Through the communal cooperation of the Landlord's/Landladies association, we are able to fix it to a reasonable extent.
Therefore, communal living is one thing that i will love to be revisited and brought back to action. I understand the place of people overstepping their boundaries and the need for privacy indeed, however, this shouldn't erode the place of communal living unto social responsibility, peace and progress even amidst our diversities as humans. This will make our world a better place to live and everyone will feel among and accepted without any fear or threats to life and existence.
