Health as defined by the World Health Organization (WHO): "is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". Source As the popular saying goes: "Health is wealth" meaning no one can afford to joke or make light with his/her health. As the world becomes more sophisticated and based on certain human activities, good health is now becoming of great concern especially in the developing countries. Good health is a rounded term and not loopsided which means both physical and mental contributes to sound health.

Physical health can deteriorate by undergoing certain streneous or injurious activities whether conciously or unconsciously, knowingly or unknowingly. Take for example, certain work/job can predisposed someone to have a physical health challenge e.g. working in steel, chemical companies without proper safeguards. Mental health can be affected by working under toxic or unbearable strenuous conditions. We have seen and heared people working in an organization which is short staffed making one person to become overworked. Therefore, balance is necessary in life including health aswell. The following are ways to go about it:

HAVE A PLANNED REST, HOLIDAY, BREAKS "All work and no play they say make Jack a dull boy" is an old proverb signifying the importance of rest, relaxation which helps the body to rejuvenate. We all have thresholds and shooting above this can be dangerous. Therefore, concious efforts must be made to have adequate rest and relaxation.

HAVE A PLANNED NUTRITION The quality of one's nutrition is a direct reflection of ones physical and mental health. Poor nutrition i.e. imbalanced diet impacts negatively on the body physically and it mentally affects on the negative aswell. Inadequacies of vitamins and minerals affects brain development and retards brain development.

MANAGE YOUR STRESSORS WELL Good stress management can never be overemphasized. Many are becoming stressed out from work demands, family demands, financial demands and so on. Therefore, good stress management is of high importance and this includes taking a deep breath once awhile, doing regular exercise, seeing/partaking in something that elates e.g. sports, watching movies, walk out etc.

WORK SMART Many people are working hard but not working smart even as hardwork isn't enough. Part of working smart includes maximising human resources through division of labour, delegation etc which are not signs of weakness but of strength. The truth is that work never finishes and there will always be more work even as one of my lecturer back then during my undergraduate days used to say that: "The reward for work is more work". Working smart is a major skill to master nowadays so as to stay healthy.

Physical and mental health are both important and interwoven even as one can affect the other. Nowadays, health challenges are on the rise as a result of neglect by some, hence need for health check-ups and decisive actions. We need to pay more attention to our health now tan ever because only a living soul can pursue dreams and aspirations even as prevention is better than cure even amidst wealth. Thanks so much for reading even as comments and contributions are welcomed.
