Este día les traigo información acerca de los Game Jams de Astrocade, de qué tratan, con qué se comen y sobre todo... cómo podemos ganar dinero ¡Creando videojuegos!
Cada semana en el Discord de Astrocade se anuncia un tema para el Game Jam, esta semana el tema es 😌 ZEN GAMES🙏.
Lo siguiente es traducción al español del anuncio en Discord:
Crea un juego tan pacífico, tan relajante, que incluso pueda calmar a un dragón furioso 🐉. Piensa en tranquilidad. Piensa en fluidez. Piensa en juegos que disuelvan el estrés y traigan pura calma.
🕹️ Reglas: 👉 Que sea divertido, creativo y fácil de jugar (sin tutoriales largos). 👉 Publica al menos 1 juego por creador en 📢・game-showcase con la etiqueta "zen jam🙏". 👉 Para participar en la competencia, debes dar retroalimentación a al menos 3 participantes. 👉 Debe verse de ALTA CALIDAD, ser adictivo y relajante. 👉 ¡Votación de la comunidad! Los 10 a 15 juegos más votados por la comunidad serán evaluados por el equipo interno para anunciar a los ganadores.

Les comento que yo estoy haciendo un juego de arena relajante... pero como aún me falta mucho por hacer; mejor les cuento de mis participaciones en los game jams pasados.
Para mi primer Game Jam la temática fue de deportes pero con un twist creativo o divertido, creé el juego Buggy Dash, el cual realmente fue idea de Andrea (mi hija menor).

Cada personaje cuenta con una ventaja como brincar más alto o ser más veloz. Con este juego logré tener el 4to lugar en el game jam y ganar un premio de $10 USD. Después del game jam le dediqué algunas horas más de trabajo ya que no me convencía del todo que la carrera fuera vertical, así que creé una versión 2 con la carrera en horizontal. Para mi segundo Game Jam, teníamos la temática spooky. Por lo que decidí crear un juego tipo puzzle el cual titulé: The Purple Frog Curse.

Este juego trata de una niña que por perseguir a una ranita se encuentra con una rana mítica que la engaña para hacerla caer dentro de un caldero encantado que la transporta a este mundo mágico del que para salir deberá encontrar a la rana mítica que la llevará de vuelta a su casa.
Dado que este juego es un puzzle, ¡no les cuento más! Pero sí que los invito a jugarlo:
Cabe mencionar que un juego tipo puzzle es mucho más complicado de hacer, sobre todo cuando no hay referencias (o por lo menos no conoces) de otro juego que tenga la misma mecánica que el que estás creando, por lo que pensando que no terminaría a tiempo decidí crear otro más, mucho más sencillo.
Y así nació: Kawaii Toy Stack.

Este es un juego en el que deberás hacer uso de tu agudeza visual para ir despejando el área de juego dando click en los juguetes que son iguales; al acumular 3 iguales en la zona inferior éstos desaparecerán. Se ve fácil pero al ir subiendo de nivel la cosa se va complicando.
Mi sorpresa fue que con Kawaii Toy Stack logré en esta ocasión un 3er lugar, y gané $30USD. Les gustó mucho a los jueces 😋
Office Hours
Todos los miércoles a las 11:00am PST, se lleva a cabo un programa por el Discord de Astrocade, en el cual puedes mostrar ya sea tu juego para el Game Jam o cualquier otro que tengas en construcción o terminado para obtener retroalimentación de otros creadores de juegos e incluso de los desarrolladores y equipo de Astrocade. Es una gran oportunidad para ver la reacción del público ante tu juego y obtener valiosos comentarios, además de poder ver lo que los demás están haciendo.
Dicho todo esto, tal vez sea poco tiempo para crear un juego para este Game Jam, pero no está de más ir creando tu cuenta en Astrocade.com (te recomiendo que uses el mismo nombre de usuario que en Hive); para que participes ya sea creando videojuegos o incluso en los torneos y otras iniciativas; que si no te quieres perder de ningún detalle lo ideal es que también te unas al servidor en Discord.

I’m currently working on a relaxing sand game... but since I still have a lot to finish, let me tell you about my entries in previous Game Jams.
For my first Game Jam, the theme was sports — but with a creative or funny twist. I created the game Buggy Dash, which was actually an idea from Andrea (my younger daughter).

Each character has a special advantage — some can jump higher or move faster.
With this game, I achieved 4th place in the Game Jam and won a $10 USD prize.
After the Jam, I spent a few more hours improving it since I wasn’t entirely happy with the vertical racing format, so I made a version 2 with horizontal racing.

For my second Game Jam, the theme was spooky, so I decided to make a puzzle game called The Purple Frog Curse.

The story follows a girl who, while chasing a little frog, meets a mythical frog that tricks her into falling inside an enchanted cauldron. She’s transported into a magical world where she must find the mythical frog again to return home.
Since it’s a puzzle game, I won’t spoil it! But I do invite you to play:
I have to say, puzzle games are much harder to make — especially when you don’t have references or examples of similar mechanics. Thinking I might not finish on time, I decided to make a simpler game.
That’s how Kawaii Toy Stack was born.

In this game, you must use your visual sharpness to clear the game area by clicking on identical toys. When you collect three of the same at the bottom zone, they disappear. It looks easy, but as you progress, things get trickier.
To my surprise, with Kawaii Toy Stack I earned 3rd place this time and won $30 USD!
The judges really liked it 😋
Office Hours
Every Wednesday at 11:00 AM PST, there’s a live program on the Astrocade Discord, where you can showcase your Game Jam game (or any game you’re building or have finished) to get feedback from other creators — and even from the Astrocade dev team!
It’s a great opportunity to see people’s reactions, get valuable insights, and check out what others are creating.
All that said — it might be short notice to make a new game for this Game Jam, but it’s a great time to create your account on Astrocade.com (I recommend using the same username as on Hive).
You can join not only as a game creator but also in tournaments and other community activities.
And if you don’t want to miss any updates, definitely join the Discord server!
