CNF #156...... Faithful betrayal.

If I was told that Amanda, my very good friend, would turn out to be what she is now with me and our relationship would turn sour today, I would never have believed it but this is the case with us now. The bridge was broken and burnt and there is no turning back for me.

Flashback

Amanda and I have been childhood friends and we were inseparable. We shared every secret, supported each other through thick and thin and we trusted each other with our deepest fears and dreams.

I was having issues with my boyfriend because there is no relationship without struggles. So I decided to confide in my friend Amanda.

“Amanda, I don't like what Paul is doing to me.”

“What did he do this time? She asked.

“I went to his house last week, and I met him with a different lady. When I confronted him, he treated me badly and asked me out of his house.”

“He did what? I have told you to stop this thing you call a relationship you are doing with this guy, you refused.” Amanda said angrily.

“I love him and he loves me too, it's just that, I do things that make him angry.” I said, trying to defend Paul.

“Love? Love is not selfish and wicked. If he loves you like you claim, he will not treat you badly.”

Amanda was angry with me because I have refused to end things with Paul as she advised. I was beginning to lose my mind with everything that was happening between Paul and I. I was beginning to consider Amanda's advice for my sanity.

I love Paul so much so I decided to talk to him about the way he was treating me and he promised to change. After I talked to Paul, I noticed some changes in his attitude for some weeks and we were fine with each other.

Everything was going on fine until one evening. I went to his house, on getting there I knocked on the door and I was shocked when my friend Amanda opened the door.

I was dumbfounded for a while because I never expected to see my friend there at that time in my boyfriend's house.

As I stood frozen in shock, Amanda's expression changed from surprise to guilt. I felt like I was punched in the gut.

"Amanda, what is going on?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

Amanda's eyes darted around, avoiding mine. "I... uh... I was just dropping something off for Paul," she stammered.

But I knew that was a lie. I saw the look in her eyes, and I knew she was hiding something. I confronted Paul, and he confessed that Amanda had been secretly meeting him behind my back.

The truth hit me like a ton of bricks. Amanda's advice to leave Paul, her concern for my well-being, it was all a lie. She had been manipulating me, playing the role of a supportive friend while secretly chasing my boyfriend.

I felt betrayed, hurt, and angry. "You are a wolf in sheep's clothing, Amanda," I said, my voice shaking with anger."You pretended to care about me while stabbing me in the back."

Amanda's true colours were revealed. She showed no remorse, and no empathy.

"You were blind to see what was right in front of you," she said coldly.

“You two deserve each other.”

At that moment, I knew our friendship was over. I walked away, leaving behind the toxic relationship and the fake friendship.

I  moved to  a new city and began my life anew, leaving Paul and Amanda behind.
