"I will throw a grand birthday party for all of you at Manara restaurant tomorrow. So be on time, so you don't get late."
Mr Nauman said this to his friends, including Zaira who was his only female best friend. They both were together for 7 years. Zaira got excited to hear this, as she had already waiting for this as Nauman had delayed his celebrations for the past two weeks due to his health issues.
"Seriously? Finally, you made a great decision...Lol," Zaira replied.
"I would have given it earlier, if I hadn't faced this illness. So what's the menu?" Nauman asked.
"I think pizza, hamburgers and steak would be good. But cake would be from my side." Zaira replied.
"Alright, Pookie!"
"And Payasam would be from my side." Another friend added.
After the university, Zaira went straight to the market to buy a present for Nauman. Her classmate, Nain was also with her as she wanted her to help her in buying a present. Nain suggested to her, that she should buy a watch for him.
"What's about the watch?"
"No! Not at all! I have given him a watch twice."
"Then what's about the perfume?"
"I gave him perfume on his last birthday. "
Nain suggested so many things, such as shirts, jeans, wallets, and perfumes, but every time she told her that this gift had already been given.
"I want to give him something unique this time."
"So nothing could be better than a diary and pen," Nain replied.
"O what a great idea! I often see him writing something in his diary. Moreover, he told me that he is fond of writing his daily routine. So I think, it's a great idea.
So after buying his present, Zaira and Nain enjoyed a coffee and returned to the hostel. The next day, Zaira got his gift packed and ironed her dress for the party. Just then she received a call from her father. He informed her that her mother was in the hospital and serious condition, so she would have to come.
Zaira got tensed and she immediately booked a taxi to the hospital. But before leaving, she made a group call to her friends. She informed them about her mother's condition and immediately cut off the call. When she was putting her phone in her purse, it dropped on the floor and its screen got broken. She reached the hospital to check on her mom. The doctors suggested that she needed surgery.
In the evening, her mother got surgery, which was successful she was better now. On the other hand, her friends reached the restaurant and waited for her too long. They called her, but she was not picking up their call as her phone was broken. They got annoyed and celebrated the birthday party without her.
The next day, she even didn't come to the university. Her friends got worried and decided to ask her roommate. She informed them, that Zaira's mother was not well, so she left for her home yesterday. They got worried and asked,
"But why she is not picking up her phone?"
"It fell and got broken." She replied.
After two days, when Zaira came back to the university, Nauman and her other friends were greatly mad at her.
"How could you do this? Everything was planned earlier and you didn't come." Nauman said to her.
"How could I come as my mother was in the hospital? "
"I knew that, but you even didn't bother to inform us."
"What? Haven't I informed you all?"
"No! Not at all!"
"What about the group call which I made two days ago in the evening? "
"You never said anything except the greetings. We waited for you too long and came to know about your mother from your roommate. "
Everyone agreed with Nauman and Zaira was just wondering. Then she realized, perhaps she was on mute.
"I thought, I was on mute." She said."
"Might be possible and you dropped the call even without our response."
"I was in a hurry as my ride was waiting outside."
She revealed the whole situation and apologized. They all were concerned about her mother and she told them that she was better and had been discharged from the hospital. The misconception that was created by the mute call was finally resolved.
