It's another mid of the week and I am so delighted to share my own perspective on the subject that is designed for the second edition. It focuses on getting a degree still worth it? I don't think I have recovered from the accurate answer to this beautiful timely question.

For the sake of this entry, I would like to share from both areas whether obtaining a degree is still worth it or not considering the year we are into and can it offer something substantial even in the present time challenges? Education still remains the bedrock for sustaining any meaningful development in the world today. Virtually everything we see in the globe today, emanated from the sphere of one level of education or the other. The impact of education generally can't be overemphasized hence I am proud to be an educationist.

It is not just about education but the concern of this engagement focuses on whether a degree is essential or not. Should one stop at the level of only secondary school certification? For me, I would say that going further than secondary level is very important even in the globe presently. I know a lot has gone wrong in the system especially in my beloved country Nigeria. I'm quite sure there could be similar issues or different issues that confront the ministry of education in various countries.

In 2025, there seems to be a global economic meltdown which caused a decline in several sectors of the economy today. I know many are getting discouraged because most times what you study is not what you would end up practicing in the sphere of life. I remember the last time I went to the bank and saw a first class student of industrial chemistry working all day and even rose to the rank of Branch operation Manager. This is quite strange but this is because of the kind of leadership system we have in our lovely country Nigeria. There is a high rate of unemployment which affects many in practically implementing what they were taught. Because of all these challenges, should one resolve not to put resources again into gaining advanced knowledge? The answer is no. Things will soon be better.

picture is mine

Knowledge cannot be wasted is just that sometimes the time for execution might not be appropriate to the time that we wished. For the past week, in what area have I applied something that I learnt in school? I can say so many things. I studied chemistry and most of what we do at home is chemistry that's either physical or chemical process.

Should we say that school is a scam? Not really even though the present environment might look tough but change is underway. It's high time for one to dig deep into other areas to find relevance and deduce how such courses can be practiced. Higher institution is not a scam and a lot can be learned and implemented. Let's be on the positive side.

There is still hope please let's keep remain optimistic. Thanks so much.
