Most of us think success comes down to motivation. We are eager to set a goal,get inspired/motivated , then ride on the energy for few days, buy as soon as motivation fades , we are back to our old habits/ways.
In as much as motivation will definitely help us, it can be unreliable especially when things are tough, what can really help us is if we can learn to make the habits very easy to start and repeat.
Our brain is wired in such a way that it is drawn to habits that are very easy, or should i say habits that has a very low resistance. If it is easier to scroll down on your phone than to read your books, chances are that you are likely to scroll down on your phone.
But you can definitely utilize this to your advantage by making bad habits hard to start and good habit very easy to start.

If you want to spend less time o social media app, make it harder to do, you can start by deleting the apps on your phone and then leaving only the browser as a means of accessing them, this extra work needed to access social media will now make it very hard to engage on and break the cycle of mindless scrolling.
Don't neglect the huge role that your environment plays when it comes to adopting a habit. The key lesson here is not to utilize will power to force a habit onto yourself, but also to make or structure the environment in such a way that it feels so natural to engage with the desired habit.
If you want to drink water daily, leave a can of water on the desk, if you want to read daily , leave a book on the table.

This tactics makes good choice to become the easy choice. With time , this small choices will add up , this is because big change does not come from big action , it comes from small consistent actions.
