Compré una carpa pequeña porque tenía pensado ir a algún lugar más natural. Otro viajero me había hablado de un lugar llamado Colonia Independencia, donde la gente tenía una perspectiva más ecológica, y me pareció que merecía la pena visitarlo.
I bought a small tent because I was planning to go out somewhere more wild. I had been mentioned a place called Colonia Independencia by another traveler where people had a more ecological perspective and it seemed worth checking out.
Se puede llegar a Colonia Independencia tomando uno de los transportes rurales en Villarica, una de las principales ciudades de Paraguay. No es que sea tan grande, pero tampoco hay grandes ciudades en Paraguay (las más pobladas tienen alrededor de 400 000 habitantes) y esta es la más antigua, con 400 años desde su fundación.
You can get to Colonia Independencia by taking one of the rural transports at Villarica, one of Paraguay's major cities. Not that it's that big, but then again there are no large cities in Paraguay (the most populated have around 400 K inhabitants) and this one is the oldest it seems, with 400 years since it's foundation.
En fin, volviendo al viaje, me subí al bus y fue un recorrido muy bonito. Al principio me sentí como si estuviera de vuelta en el campo chileno, pero luego miré con más detalle y pude ver que todo era diferente. La vegetación, el estilo de construcción de las casas y las vacas también eran diferentes.
Anyways, back to the journey, I payed the ticket and took the ride which was a nice one. At first I felt like I was back in the Chilean countryside but then I looked with more detail and could see that everything was different. The vegetation, the construction style of the houses, and the cows where also different.
Llegué un poco tarde porque había estado tocando en la calle casi todo el día y explorando Villarica, así que tuve que acampar en la plaza del pueblo, pero a nadie le importó. Luego hablé con un amigo argentino que también es músico itinerante y me dijo dónde estaba el camping público, lo cual fue una bendición porque, cuando llegué, empezó a llover mucho.
I arrived a bit late since I had been busking most of the day and exploring Villarica, so I had to camp at a the town square but no one had problems with that. Then I talked with an argentinian friend who is also a traveling musician and he told me where the public camping was, which was a blessing because after I got here it started raining heavily.
El pueblo es pequeño y está rodeado de Naturaleza. Cerca de aquí se encuentra una de los pocos cerros de Paraguay, donde fui a visitar a un amigo, pero olvidé hacer fotos. Quizás vuelva a visitar antes de marcharme, aunque no estoy seguro de cuánto tiempo podré quedarme aquí, ya que no he encontrado ningún buen sitio para tocar música en la calle.
The town is small and surrounded by Nature. Near here is one of the few hills of Paraguay which I went nearby visiting my friend, but I forgot to take photos. Maybe I'll visit again before I leave, though I'm not sure how long I can stay here as I haven't found any good places to busk.
Exploré el río y caminé por los bosques, algo que no había podido hacer hace mucho tiempo. La verdad está muy bueno el lugar ya que hay camping gratis y muy cerca hay donde conseguir agua y wifi. La parte difícil es la falta de comercio por lo que a veces está todo cerrado y hay que tener eso en cuenta para no quedarse sin comida.
I explored the river and walked through the woods, something I hadn't been able to do in a long time. The truth is that the place is very nice, as there is a free campsite and nearby there are places to get water and Wi-Fi. The difficult part is the lack of shops, so sometimes everything is closed and you have to take that into account so you don't run out of food.
El camping cuenta con un lugar techado y fogón para cocinar. También fue un placer volver a encender un fuego.
The camping also has a roofed spot and a fireplace. It was a pleasure to light a fire once again.
También hay otro lugar al que puedo ir, ya que un par de viajeros están organizando un encuentro Arcoíris aquí y podría ser divertido ver de qué se trata, ya que nunca he estado en una. Este es uno de los lugares más hippies de Paraguay, ya que en otras ciudades la gente ve con malos ojos los estilos de vida alternativos. Como mencioné antes, muchos aquí son un tanto tradicionales.
There's also another place I can go as a couple of travelers are organizing a Rainbow gathering here and it might be fun to check out what that's all about as I've never been to one. This is one of the hippiest places of Paraguay as people frown a lot on alternative lifestyles in other cities. As I mentioned before, many here are quite traditional.
