A couple of days ago, I had a meetup with several Hivers, and among them, @equipodelta casually expressed his wish to own an online store. I wasn’t surprised by his unfamiliarity with @waivio, given that most of the existing material and tutorials for this HIVE DAPP are in English. Aware of the risks tied to any entrepreneurial endeavor, I began following this DAPP since it was mentioned during the virtual HIVE FEST and later in each of their sessions held in that setting. I decided to write this brief post to introduce it to the Spanish-speaking community, and I hope it serves as a starting point to spark interest among Spanish speakers curious about setting up their own online store. The first thing I want to highlight is the potential to associate your personal brand as a content creator with an online store that your followers can access directly from your HIVE profile. This is already an implicit advantage, since you’ll be doing the work of promoting the store through your blog, writing product reviews for what’s offered there. The DAPP features its own tokenomics, backed by its native token, $WAIV.

Two accounts that regularly post about the DAPP can clarify their progress in setting up an online store: [@waiviolabs](https://www.waivio.com/@waiviolabs) and [@social.gifts](https://www.waivio.com/@social.gifts). However, from them you’ll mainly get updates on how to collaborate across different aspects of a DAPP conceived as a brilliant business idea—one that could bring additional income with solid returns. Perhaps the most complete place to find tutorials for setting up your online store is the ["About"](https://www.waivio.com/object/ylr-waivio/page#mim-transform-your-passion-into-profit-with-waivio) tab, embedded in the menu of your profile on the [main website of the DAPP](https://www.waivio.com). To log in as a Hiver, you have two options: via [HiveSigner](https://hivesigner.com) or through [HiveAuth](https://hiveauth.com). You can also sign in using the DAPP [Hive Keychain](https://hive-keychain.com) by simply clicking the HiveAuth icon and then scanning the QR code that appears on screen. Everything is quite user-friendly on @waivio’s site. The only thing is—you’ll need to do a fair bit of reading while setting up your store. Yes, it’s a bit of a hassle, but once you’re done, you’ll feel the satisfaction of having built that dream space for earning extra money.

What are the advantages of setting up your own store? Consider the time you spend reading and voting on Hive—add to that the fact that you probably don’t earn enough from your blog and need extra income. Well, you could make better use of your time by promoting the products you offer in your store, whether they’re your own or from third parties. This is worth emphasizing: I remember talking with @felixmarranz about opening a store featuring the soaps he makes. Another possibility is to bring in third-party products offered by online stores like Amazon or Walmart. All the information on how to incorporate them into your store is available in the tutorials you can access from the page described in the second paragraph of this post. Truth be told, there’s plenty of information on this—but it’s all in English. That’s a disadvantage for the Spanish-speaking community, but never a barrier. Nothing a good online translator can’t handle for you.

Lastly, keep several things in mind: First, this is pure free-market territory, and nothing will come easy—from selecting the products to offer in your store to promoting those same products within Hive so they’re purchased by fellow creators. Second, being the owner of a business requires many hours of work. Before you begin, remember that nothing worthwhile in your life—or anyone else’s—has ever been achieved without practice, trial and error, and a massive investment of time. Keep this in mind: most people who start an online store do so without capital. And in this wild world of buying and selling, no one’s going to give you anything for free. If you don’t have capital, you’ll need to invest your time (which is money too). Waivio was created so you can pursue your dream of launching your own store. Plus, you’ll receive a series of incentives for participating in the platform’s improvement and for the offerings you propose through your store. They’ll guide you on how to do it—but you have to put in the effort.
