In the comments of a recent post, a fellow hiver shared her decision to step away from HIVE for personal reasons—totally valid from any angle. Still, that comment sparked something in us, and that’s what you’re about to read. First off, major props to her for the honesty—this piece wouldn’t exist if she hadn’t had the guts to name her own disconnection. Let’s be real: people move at different speeds, and their life setups are nothing like ours. From that starting point, dear reader, you’re free to draw your own conclusions. But here’s the thing—we’re not doing ourselves any favors if we don’t keep hammering on the formulas that actually work when you’re in the content game. If that’s your lane—if you call yourself a “content creator”—then this post is for you. If not, no hard feelings, just scroll on and save yourself the time.

Creating content for any feed is no joke—it’s a grind. You’re not just pumping out catchy topics (and let’s be honest, “consistency” isn’t exactly clickbait), you’re also battling the creative drought that hits when your muse ghosts you. That muse? She’s the one who helps you entertain—aka the secret sauce to keeping your readers locked in. Add to that the real-life curveballs: token dips, power outages, errands, the rest your body actually needs… and boom, you’ve got the perfect storm for putting off your next post. But here’s the flip side of being your own boss: you owe something to the readers you earned the hard way. Take our hiver, for example—I still remember her DIY posts that carved out her spot in the feed. Which is why it’s hard to buy the “no time” excuse when it takes literally one minute to drop a random pic (we all have tons) into the feed using @snapie (that lightweight photo-sharing Dapp built on HIVE).

Here’s the deal, and now we’re talking HIVE: if you keep showing up and posting, sooner or later someone’s gonna notice you—maybe an orca, maybe a whale. Not every hiver can post daily (and I get it, not everyone’s retired from the formal economy). But the real play here is building recall—that marketing concept that means brand memory—and it’s what lets you eventually take breaks without vanishing. Case in point: we went dark for three days recently, only dropping a single pic via @snapie into the feed. But when we came back, it was like we never left. That kind of status? It can be your goal too, if you don’t want to be forgotten. Will that be the case for the hiver we mentioned? No clue. But now that she’s back, I can tell you one thing for sure—I remember her. Which means she nailed her recall game.

Another case that seriously caught our attention was a hiver who hadn’t posted in over 11 months due to a personal tragedy—something they shared in their comeback post, which got massive support from the community. To pull in that level of rewards (+160 HBD), you’ve gotta be someone who mastered the art of recall. That’s the gospel we’re trying to preach: you might not feel the slightest urge to post, but the longer you stay off the feed, the harder it gets. Because it all hinges on the recall work you’ve done. And if that phase isn’t locked in, climbing back into curators’ good graces is gonna be an uphill battle. Same goes for posting anywhere—your readers will remember you, but only if you’ve done the work to make your personal brand stick through time and the chaos of any feed. Think about that and keep it close.
