¿Por qué aquí y ahora..? (ESP/ENG) || THOUGHTS and IMAGES

Hace unos pocos días, cuando estuvimos [completamente desconectados](https://peakd.com/hive-187189/@fermionico/weekend-without-espeng-family-gallery-k83), se nos ocurrió entre muchas actividades y aupados por los jóvenes presentes en el "retiro", una especie de "chequeo físico" La prueba consistía en correr a máxima velocidad un trecho de al menos 25 metros (no teníamos la medida exacta) y tomaríamos el tiempo que le llevaba a cada quien hacer la distancia. Tres oportunidades para mejorar el tiempo propio. Así que la "competencia" era contra sí mismo, persiguiendo una especie de "archivo" de condición física de tiempo en tiempo, dentro de la familia. La verdad, no puedo imaginar el tono de "seriedad" que le dieron los chicos a éste pasatiempo, pero de lo que puedo estar seguro es de la diversión desprendida en tal actividad. Ahora, la reflexión de la cual éste redactor quiere compartir, fue de una acción que de seguro no habría hecho mayor ruido, si como antaño hubiésemos estados "distraídos" o "desconectados" de nuestro entorno. #

Just a few days ago, while we were [totally off the grid](https://peakd.com/hive-187189/@fermionico/weekend-without-espeng-family-gallery-k83), we came up with—among many unplugged activities and hyped by the younger crew at the “retreat”—a kind of DIY fitness check. The challenge? Sprint full throttle across a stretch of roughly 25 meters (we didn’t measure it precisely) and clock your time. Everyone got three shots to beat their own record. So yeah, it wasn’t about racing others—it was a solo grind, chasing your own stats, building a family archive of physical condition over time. Honestly, I can’t even describe the level of “serious face” the kids brought to this little game, but what I do know for sure is that it was pure fun. And here’s the kicker—the reflection this editor wants to drop comes from a moment that probably wouldn’t have made a ripple if, like in the old days, we’d been “distracted” or “tuned out” from our surroundings.

Resulta y acontece que algunas de las chicas (sobrinas) tomaron vídeos de los intentos de cada uno y de la lectura de los resultados finales (todo un acontecimiento) en el performance de cada asistente. Cuando los vídeos llegaron a manos de éste servidor quedé pasmado. Muchos saben a través del seguimiento que hacen de nuestra cuenta, la evolución que hemos tenido desde hace cierto tiempo como persona. Recuerdo haber ganado el título gratis de "ogro" en la vieja cadena y quizás aquella mala fama bien merecida nos haya perseguido hasta nuestros días, no lo sé, lo ignoro y la verdad, no nos interesa ¿La razón? El pasado no se puede cambiar y el futuro no se ha escrito aún. Sólo el presente es incuestionable y es donde puedes operar para cambiar las cosas. Hemos hecho un camino de sacrificios hasta acá para intentar cambiar nuestro modo de hacer las cosas y de comportarnos. Y la realidad es que HIVE tuvo un poco que ver en ello. #

Turns out some of the girls (my nieces) filmed everyone’s sprint attempts and the final time readings—yep, full-on event vibes for each performance. When those clips landed in my inbox, I was floored. A lot of folks who follow our account know the personal evolution we’ve been grinding through for a while now. I still remember earning the “ogre” badge for free back in the old network, and maybe that bad rep stuck with us longer than it should’ve—I don’t know, don’t care. Why? Because the past is locked, the future’s unwritten, and the present is the only playground where you can actually shift the game. We’ve walked a long road of sacrifice to flip the script on how we act and how we show up. And truth be told, HIVE had a little something to do with that.

A lo que voy es a lo siguiente: cuando me ví en los vídeos, vi a alguien diferente a como nos sentimos. Me di cuenta que el tiempo no pasa en vano, por vez primera en la vida sentí que la persona quien corría en la grabación no era este servidor. El puño de años que nos vimos encima, nos hizo comprender el cambio de las circunstancias. Es decir, siempre nos hemos sentido mucho más jóvenes de lo que hemos querido admitir. Y ese vídeo nos entregó una cachetada de realidad. Ojo, creo que para la edad que tenemos, nuestro performance estuvo a la altura de un "adulto contemporáneo" en buena forma física, pero eso nada más. Lo que en realidad mostró el vídeo fue una persona acercándose a la tercera edad, divirtiéndose a más no poder. Y eso es lo que hemos estado intentando "rumiar" por éstos días y ahora, hemos querido compartir en un escrito. #

Here’s the thing—when I watched those videos, I saw someone who didn’t match how we feel inside. For the first time ever, it hit me: time doesn’t just pass, it leaves marks. The guy sprinting in that clip didn’t feel like me. The stack of years we’ve racked up finally made sense, and we had to face the shift in circumstances. Truth is, we’ve always felt way younger than we’ve been willing to admit. That video? Straight-up reality check. Now don’t get me wrong—I think for our age, the performance was solid, like a “fit grown-up” doing his thing. But that’s all it was. What the footage really showed was someone cruising toward seniorhood, having an absolute blast. And that’s the part we’ve been chewing on lately—the bit we felt needed to be written down and shared.

Las tres imágenes que acompañan ésta publicación son una declaración del aquí y ahora: lo reflexivo y menos impulsivos que nos hemos vuelto, además de intentar vivir el momento, es representado por la imagen del atardecer sobre la costa central de nuestro lindo y hermoso país; el amor y la paciencia está representada en la imagen de @aventurerasbike, quien ha sido testigo silente y de primera mano en nuestro cambio, además de un ejemplo: "haz el bien y ama por sobre todas las cosas"; por último, el escudo de nuestro equipo de siempre, como un testimonio de que hay solo variaciones de comportamiento de las personas, pero hay esencia que perdura, porque es de ella donde nace la identidad de cada quien. Y en éstas horas tan importantes de la humanidad, estar claros que el pasado no se puede cambiar y el futuro es algo que no está escrito, provee una paz mental muy necesaria en el comienzo pronto de nuestra tercera edad. #
