Hi everyone... You must have or want to plan to get married, but before getting married of course you must know in advance the stages to carry out the marriage process, of course in each region has its own way or custom that is different from other regions, just like in my country it's customary or the wedding process will vary from region to region, but I will choose one to discuss, of course the wedding customs that exist in my tribe, because I have witnessed it firsthand.
Although white marriages and court marriages are practiced the same all over the world, traditional marriages are different for everyone. Tell us how it is done in your tribe. We want to know.
The ACEH tribe has several stages to carry out the marriage process, but not all stages must or must be passed, for some people who are less fortunate may carry out the stages that are considered sacred or mandatory to be carried out, on this occasion I will summarize for friends -friends all the stages of the sacred / mandatory for the ACEH TRADITIONAL wedding process.
- FIANCÉ
after both parties between the woman's family and the family of the man have agreed and approved of both, the first step will be carried out, namely the ENGAGEMENT Event, the engagement event as in general is marked by giving a RING, this event is carried out by the party of the male extended family Men come to the woman's house with the intention of marking that the woman will become a wife for her child in the near future, usually the ring will be handed over or worn directly by the mother of the bridegroom. Then both parties negotiate to determine the schedule or date for the next stage, namely MARRIAGE.
- MARRIAGE (IJAB KABUL)
Then for the next stage there will be an "ijab kabul" event or the language generally called marriage, the bride and groom are brought together to do a "ijab kabul" where the parents or guardians of the bride give their child to the groom with predetermined conditions, then the bride and groom the man answered and stated that he was ready with the agreed terms, after which both parties and the audience declared it was legal for them to become husband and wife.
There are no special obligations for the place and clothes, the most important thing is that witnesses from both parties come and witness the 'Ijab Kabul' procession. After that, usually both parties go home first, as well as the bride and groom, the next day both parties return confer to determine the schedule for the next stage, namely the WEDDING PARTY / MARRIAGE.
- WEDDING PARTY \ MARRIAGE
This is a peak event, but actually this is not an obligation that must be done, but considering this is the most special moment in life, so most people are willing to spend a large amount of money to make a Wedding Party event.
The wedding party will be held in two places on different days, first it will be held at the bride's house first, then continued on another day at the groom's house, later there will be an "INTAT LINTO" procession (taking the groom to the bride's house women) & "INTAT DARA BAROE" (taking the bride to the groom's house).
The wedding party at the bride's house aims to welcome the arrival of the groom, and vice versa.
After the completion of the wedding ceremony, the obligatory stages according to the customs of the ACEH people are considered perfect.
NOTES : I only compiled the stages that are required according to the customs of the ACEH Tribe, maybe for more details there are several more stages that I will not describe, because the other stages can only be done by people who are categorized as rich.
