Most people who are up to 60 years old have already travelled to another country. The older generations couldn't do that, only a select few. There are number of reasons for that, like huge economic issues, language barriers, actual wars going on,tough life, no direct lines with certain destinations and older technology.
To give you an example, if i want to go to Australia from Greece today, which let's say is the top destination in terms of how far it is, i can be there in approximately 1 day traveling by plane. Like 40 years ago, it took 1 month by ship for my grandmother to arrive. 1 freaking month!
Now i am one of the lucky ones as my parents took me to a trip abroad when i was like 10 or something. For the next years, i also joined them on some other trips. I believe that made me keen on exploring other countries based on what i can afford of course and thus i have travelled a lot.
Each country has something different to offer, a different kind of vibe, a different kind of beauty and a different kind of ugliness. Most of the tourists though don't see or understand the ugly vibe because pretty much, you don't really have any stress, only to catch a bus or train, and 90% of the places you visit are touristy, meaning you don't get to see how people live.
Now, what i realised i really enjoy in terms of destinations in the sense of characteristics for a dream destination, is beautiful nature, green fields, rivers, mountains and such, good people, safety, tradition blending with history.
My Dream Destination was China, to be honest and i managed to fulfill that dream. The main reason was that i really, really like the history of China, their traditions and architecture. I would easily travel here but in other cities to see something different. There were ofc some things that i didn't like but my experience in general was top.
Having fulfilled that dream i kind of feel a bit empty, but i still like travelling and experiencing other countries that i may be positively surprised! So let me know your dream destination and whether you managed to fulfill it!
