Yesterday was my fifth game day with my new Splinterlands account. My mission: I want to find out whether it is still worth starting with Splinterlands as a beginner. Because since October there have been some adjustments to the reward system by Splinterlands, so that the rewards from the loot chests in the Bronze League are no longer so good. The goal should therefore be to reach the Silver League as quickly as possible.
Today I'll tell you how I managed to reach the silver league in 5 days without investing any money in the game. With the exception of the 10 $ for the spellbook (starter deck), of course, because everyone has to invest that in order to be able to play for rewards at all. Strictly, it was only 4 game days, because on the fourth day I took a break from playing.
Before I tell you how I managed to reach the silver league so quickly, I'll show you my current status in the game.
## My fourth and fifth quest!
On the fifth day, I did two quests. How it works? I accepted the fourth quest the day before and didn't finish it until the fifth day. Immediately afterwards, I received the fifth quest and was able to complete it. Therefore, I did two quests on the fifth day and of course received two rewards.
The fourth quest was the "sneak" quest. That means that I have to win at least 5 fights with at least one card that has the sneak ability.

The following starter cards have the sneak ability:

The sneak ability ensures that your monster attacks your opponent's last card. This is useful because most of the time a tank with a lot of life or armor is placed in the front. The sneak ability allows you to bypass the opponent's tank quickly. In addition, monsters with melee attack can also attack from the rear positions. I didn't know that for a long time and therefore always hated the "Sneak" quest in the past, because I always lost. That was because I misplaced my cards in the game. Positioning of the maps is an extremely important issue at Splinterlands in order to win fights. I will create further tutorials for this. Since I know the monster can attack from any position with the sneak ability, the quest is very easy to win even with the starter cards.

My fifth quest that I had to do was a fire quest. This means that I have to win at least 5 fights using a fire deck or fire summoner.

## My fourth and fifth quest reward
When I collected the quest rewards, I was already in the silver III league, so instead of one, I got two loot chests per quest. In addition, from the silver league onwards, there are no more Credits in it and that will certainly please some. These can also be useful because you can use them to rent cards that will help you advance in the game.
The fourth quest reward included two cards. On the one hand Pelacor Bandit and on the other hand Pelacor Mercenary. Pelacor Bandit also has the ability to sneak, which is useful for other "sneak" quests.

The two cards currently have a value of:
Pelacor Bandit: approximately $ 0.21 (€ 0.18)
Pelacor Mercenary: approximatel $ 0.18 (€ 0.16)
The fifth quest reward included a card and 2 Dark Energy Crystals (DEC). The card was Pelacor Conjurer.

The card and the Dark Energy Crystals currently have a value of:
Pelacor Conjurer: approximatel $ 0.21 (€ 0.18)
2 DEC: approximatel $ 0.02 (€ 0.02)
## How much DEC did I receive on the fifth day?
Overall, I received 248.668 DEC on my fifth day from battles won. That's the equivalent of $ 2.64. Not much, but a lot more than on the second day. I can also rent some useful cards from them. Silver league, I'm coming!
## I rented these cards on the fifth day!
To make it to the silver league, I used some of the DEC I had previously earned to rent tickets. Because, on the one hand, good cards help win fights and, on the other hand, I need a certain card power (CP) in order to be allowed to advance to the silver league at all. For the silver III league, for example, 15,000 power is required.

I rented these cards primarily for fighting.
- Sacred Unicorn (Level 1) for one day for 10.000 DEC
- Air Elemental (Level 1) for one day for 2.820 DEC
- Light Elemental (Level 1) for one day for 1.043 DEC
- Evangelist (Level 1) for one day for 0.670 DEC
- Thunderbird (Level 1) for one day for 0.524 DEC
- Djinn Renova (level 1) for one day for 0.260 DEC
- Silvershield Archers in Gold (Level 4) for one day for 4.640 DEC
- Venari Crystalsmith in Gold (Level 2) for one day for 3.200 DEC
- Furious Chicken (Level 1) for one day for 5.800 DEC
I rented this card to get the 15,000 power. I chose the card via [PeakMonsters!](https://peakmonsters.com/rentals)
- Lunakari Mistress (Level 6) for one day for 25.000 DEC
I'll tell you more about PeakMonsters and how you should look for the cards there in order to buy or rent as much power (CP) as possible for a little DEC.
## Income from the SPS Airdrop
I totally forgot to collect the SPS from the airdrop. That will be made up for the next day.
## Summary of day 5
**Quest reward:** 3 cards + 2 DEC
Value: approximately $ 0.62 (€ 0.54)
**DEC rewards from Ranked Battles:** 248,668 DEC
Value: approximately $ 2.64
**Total Value of Day 5 Rewards:** $ 3.26 (€ 2.83)
**Total value of the account after rental fees & purchases:**
**Credits:** 11.3 Credits
Value: approximately $ 0.01 (€ 0.01)
**DEC:** 257.921 DEC
Value: approximately $ 2.76
**SPS:** 0.078 SPS
Value: approximately $ 0.04 (€ 0.03)
**Cards:** 4 cards
Value: approximately $ 4.00 (€ 3.47)
**Total value:** approximately $ 6.81 (€ 5.90)
What do you estimate when will I have my investment for the spellbook (starter deck) back in there? I guess I'll have the $ 10 in there in two days at the latest, a week in total.
But now I'll tell you how you can get into the silver league so quickly.
## Reach the silver league quickly!
First a brief overview, but I will go into a little more detail about the individual points in a moment.
1. Use your starter cards! You already have some good starter cards, especially trying to understand the abilities and types of attacks. Only then can you use the cards correctly. The order of the cards also plays an important role, don't underestimate that.
2. Rent cards from other players! Did you win your first few fights and have some credits or DEC? Super rents cards from other players.
3. Reach 15,000 power! So that you can switch to the Silver League III, you need at least 1,000 rating points on the one hand and 15,000 power on the other. Please reach the 1,000 rating points before renting the 15,000 Power.
### 1. Use your starter cards!
At the beginning everyone has the same chances, because in the bronze league mostly the beginners cavort. Everyone has the starter cards and they are not as bad as most beginners believe. You just have to pay attention to a few things. In particular, you should know the skills and types of attacks. Because it is important to position the cards in the correct order, otherwise you will lose your fights.
I recommend that you look at the first few fights that you are doing in full and not jump straight to the results, because then you will get a feel for what the cards do and which strategies work and why they work or not.
**Attack types:** There are a total of three different types of attacks.
- Melee: As the name suggests, monsters with melee attacks can only attack from the first position. Unless, these cards have special abilities so that melee combatants can attack from other positions. So if you don't put them first, they may not be able to attack.

- Magic: Monsters with magic attacks can attack from any position, so I usually position them in the middle of the team behind the melee fighters. In addition, magic attacks have the advantage that they attack the life of the opposing monster directly and ignore any shield that may be present.

- Ranged: Monsters with ranged attacks cannot attack from the first position, so it makes sense to arrange them as far back as possible in the team. Also, if one of your monsters dies, keep in mind that the other monsters will advance one place each.

**Abilities:** There are too many skills to explain them all in detail. I will make a separate contribution for this. But you can find information on all abilities at Splinterlands if you look at your cards. To do this, you simply have to click on the cards and move the mouse pointer over the respective skill. Then a description will appear.

**Other stats:** It is also important to know that cards have other stats. For example, speed, life or a shield.
**Speed:** The faster your card is, the more likely it is to attack. In addition, faster cards have a higher chance of dodging slow cards. Slow cards often have the disadvantage that the attacks go wrong.
**Shield:** Melee and ranged combat monsters attack the shield first. Only when this is broken is the life of the opposing monster attacked. Magical attacks, however, ignore a shield and attack the life points directly.
**Life:** The higher the life points, the more attacks a monster can take. In many cases, it is advisable to use a monster in the first position that has a lot of life or shield. When a monster's life drops to 0, the monster is dead.
### 2. Rent cards from other players!
With the above tips you can already win your first fights and thus earn rewards. You can rent your first cards with DEC or Credits. You have already seen which tickets I rented in my diary above. In the Bronze League I would recommend you to concentrate on a deck, for example “Life” or “Water”, and rent cards there. Make sure that you only rent level 1 cards as long as your summoners are in level 1. That is enough to get through the bronze league and receive the 1,000 rating points. So you can already rent good cards for a couple of DEC. Also pay attention to the rental period. This is often preset to 3 or 7 days. I recommend renting several cards for a day and then. In my opinion, you have more of that.
### 3. Reach 15,000 power!
As soon as you have reached 1,000 rating points or more, you have to reach 15,000 power in order to get into the silver league III. Of course, you should only do this if you haven't collected your daily quest reward or if the season is close to the end so that you can get more loot chests. In addition, the rewards are better from the silver league. Please also consider that as soon as the rental period of your cards ends, your power will also decrease again. So if you rent cards for one day, the power is gone the next day and you may be back in the bronze league. So check beforehand whether it is worth renting the 15,000 power.
At PeakMonsters you can check which cards you can rent for a low CP/DEC price. After all, you want to get as much power (CP) as possible for as little DEC as possible in order to get to 15,000 power. Please check beforehand how much power you are still missing and then rent the corresponding card from Peakmonsters before you collect your daily reward. Also make sure that you set the rental period to one day, because the default is usually 3 or 7 days rental period.

At PeakMonsters you can see under “rent” which cards have the best CP/DEC rental price. In the example you can see a card with 9,660 CP (power) for a total of 28,980 DEC/day. That makes a total of 333,333 CP/DEC and is a good deal for reaching the power limit.
I hope I was able to help a little with the tips. I would of course be very happy about upvotes. If you know Splinterlands beginners and you find this post helpful, I would also be happy if you share the post. Thanks.
## Do you already play Splinterlands?
