There is something about a motorcycle trip that just clears your head from the wind in your face,to the open road and even in the promise of adventure,It is the perfect recipe for a good day trip or a night trip.And when that adventure begins a place as magical as The Ruins in Bacolod,know that it is going to be special.

My friend and I decided to get rid of the usual weekend routine and hop on my motorcycle.We wanted to see The Ruins which is a place everyone talks about.We already heard stories abot the mansion and also seen some pictures but we wanted to experience it for ourselves.

So,after work, we went off and the rumble of the engine a soothing soundtrack to our journey.The ride itself was part of the fun.Our journey took us through streets while we observed sugarcane fields before feeling the cozy sunshine in Bacolod.

When we finally arrived The Ruins stood before us and a silent giant with a story to tell.It is not just a pile of old stones but it is a monument to love,loss and also resilience.

it’s more than just an old house.It was built by a man named Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson for his wife named Cora Maria Osorio Rosa-Braga.Don Mariano and Doña Maria had a big family which has eleven children Can you imagine that eleven children ☺️.

Sadly Doña Cora Maria passed away in an accident along with their unborn child.Don Mariano was heartbroken and he wanted to build something that would remind him of her wife Doña Cora Maria something that beautiful and lasting.That is how The Ruins came to be.

He built this huge mansion that inspired with Italian architecture on his sugar plantation.Ruins served as a symbol of his love and a grand gesture.I mean who would not want someone to build a mansion for them just kidding... mostly ☺️.

The mansion was beautiful and this is a testament of Don Mariano's wealth and love for his family but then.when the World War II happened.The Japanese were coming and the Filipino guerillas was working with the Americans and decided to burn the mansion down.They did not want the Japanese to use it as a base.

Imagine that all that beauty,all that love are going up in flames.The ruins that built with unconditional and genuine love burned for three days and leaving only the frame standing.It was supposed to be completely gone but the strong frame stayed.

After then,those ruins are what people come to see.They also called it the Taj Mahal of the Philippines in which a reminder of a grand love story and a tragic past of the Lacson Family.

Walking around The Ruins you can almost feel the history.From the empty windows,through the walls they all whisper stories of a time long gone.We also took pictures,of course and we are trying to capture the beauty and the sadness of the place.

We also imagined what it must have been like when the mansion was full of life with children running through the halls and parties being held in the grand rooms.But now it is just a quiet place,a place for reflection.

Beyond the silent walls they had this small television screen within the grounds continuously plays the story of the Lacson family and sharing their history with every visitor.By watching story the story of the Lacson that gives us knowledge and learnings behind the Lacson Family Ruins mansion.

The presence of the mansion's remains ensures that the romance and tragedy of The Ruins are never forgotten vut allowing each person to connect with the heart of this historical place.

###### Getting There
Getting to The Ruins is pretty easy.You can simply take a taxi straight there which is super convenient or you can also take a jeepney from bacolod downtown to Bata bacolod then ride a tricycle straight to the ruins,If you are for a little adventure, you can take a motorcycle.That's what we did and it was fun ☺️.
The Ruins open at 2 PM to 8 PM on Tuesdays to Thursdays and 11 AM to 8 PM on Fridays to Sundays.It is closed on Mondays.We went in the afternoon and the light was perfect for photos.
Our motorcycle trip to The Ruins was more than just a sightseeing adventure.It also a journey into the past and a chance to connect with a story of love and loss.

It made me think about how things change and how life can be unpredictable.But even in the face of tragedy the beauty can still be found.And The Ruins is a reminder of that.
