Just over three weeks ago, I said that I was enjoying my return to knitting and crochet and it was a kind of meditation.
I had found myself taking orders for a couple of items including this:
It had started as an experiment and/or sample. I took it to show the "client", and so thrilled she was, that she accepted it and ordered another. This time, though, she brought me a sample and sent dimensions.
Could I replicate the sample?
She had originally asked for a crochet cosy which is why I came u with the first. On examining her sample, it's a product of both crafts.
Not one to pass up a challenge, I said I'd try. I couldn't find a pattern for her dimensions so I set out to work from the sample. Fisherman's rib - a knit - for the cosy, itself.
The flowers are crochet and they posed the greatest challenge. I found several patterns and chose this which looked similar. The original pattern has the flowers in one colour, but I decided that they needed to have yellow centres.
After driving myself nuts, trying to get these right, I left them for a few days. Then, on Saturday, they happily hooked their way to perfection.
I also decided that the central flower would be yellow, with the colours surrounding it.
And her response to the finished product:
I guess he's happy. I'll deliver it later or tomorrow.
Until next time
